Does it mean anything to be 1cm dilated at 36 weeks?

Hey there ladies,

So I had my 36 week appointment yesterday and the doctor did my first cervical check and she said I am 1cm dilated but my cervix is still thick and she hasn't dropped but she is head down. I have been progressively been loosing my mucous plug since 34 weeks but I'm wondering if I will still go all the way to 40 weeks or over? I am also extremely uncomfortable walking around and baby feels like she is sittin on my hip bones. Anyone have similar symptoms or past experience?

I was 2cm for weeks before I had Rhys, I went 8days over

When I was 35-36 weeks with my 6yo I was 1cm dilated and 30% effaced. Unfortunately I don't know how long I would have stayed 1cm because I was induced at 36 weeks due to IUGR. I'm 32 weeks now and curious of any changes but probably won't be checked until my dr does the group B strep swab or if I start showing contractions on my non stress test...

I was 3 cm dillated with my daughter at 28 weeks and ended up having to be induced at 41 weeks.

One thing for sure is that it is progression. A favorable cervix in the end is a good thing. As to when you will go into labor, better to not get hopes up as it can make for a long last few weeks if you are constantly thinking you are going into labor.

Good luck hun!

Thanks ladies, seems like it's different for everyone. My friend is 39 weeks and no sign of labor so I guess only time will tell. It sucks because I would love to get up and be active and try and get things done but I feel so sore like I just ran 10 miles or something. I guess it will be like this till she arrives huh?

by 36 weeks I was 3cm with both my other children, so I'm interested in this too
