Does metformin cause spotting?

I'm on cd 14 & have been having on off brown spotting since af finished ( I do get that some months) but no sign of ov which I usually have by now, the only thing different is this month I'm taking metformin to try & balance my hormones as I have pcos. Is it possible the metformin has caused it? Anyone had similar? It's really worrying me x

I've taken metformin on and off for 7 years and never had a problem with spotting. Sorry I can't help more. I hope someone else can.
