My Doctors has a really stupid set up where if u dont call at 8 exactly u cant get an appointment and ive been suffering with my back and its gettin worse and worse - yesterday it froze up and i couldnt move i was so scared lol! anyway i called this morning n the line was engaged! i kept trying until quarter past until i HAD to leave for work. At 8:45 i tried again and was told they were fully booked! i burst into tears and went into a big rant with the lady at reception lol :S i was sooo mad and im really in a lot of pain (i hate to seem like im over reacting but its making work so difficult) she eventually said they could get me ain at 10:30 today! fully booked my arse!! lol
anyway im worried the doctor is just going to fob me off again, when i went before he gave me some tablets which are just to strong and left me hanging over the toilet afraid to move after being sick everywhere lol so i stopped taking them, he keep saying its just hormones which is fine but i dnt care what it is i just want him to help!

i dont kno what i can say to make him listen! any advice guys? xx

demand he give you something stronger, and explain just how bad your back pain really is.

If he ignores you again, then hes an ass. I'd switched doctors and make a complaint (:

xx

I suppose i do need to just be more assertive! i kno what im like tho and ill be all 'ok sure whatever you say' :/ lol maybe ill take my mum :P xx

Yeah you have to ring at 8 here or the appointments go really fast. It's a stupid new rule they've made (I worked as a receptionist for a doctors clinic before I had Robyn) and basically they have to leave so many slots open in a day that you cant prebook.
I dont know if they do this where you live but why don't you try asking for a telephone consultation? They should book you in for one and have the doctor ring you when he's finished with his appointments. I did this when I had nipple thrush from breastfeeding but didnt have a car and I didnt feel like walking 4 miles to my clinic when I was still recovering from giving birth. The doctor spoke to me on the phone, prescribed me with antibiotics and the pharmacy delivered them to my door within the hour.
Tell them that it's too painful for you to leave the house and you want to speak to a doctor and they should sort it out for you.
Also, I'm not sure what painkillers you can have whilst pregnant, I had cocodamol for my back spasms but Im not sure you can get anything stronger.

- Cant you get anything over the counter? Paracetamol? Ibuprofen? Try having a bath. :) x

At the midwifes' office I go to you need to book a non-pregnancy appointment months in advance. They have a certain set time every day devoted to pregnancy. If a problem arises in a non-pregnant person they usually get you in within the week. Pregnancy problems get you into the "express lane". You get first dibbs on the next available appointment.

Really stress to him how much pain you're in! I hope you get it all worked out. Remember, he may be your doctor but you hired him to take care of you and baby. That's his job, it's what he's there for.

We have to call 8 on the dot here too (unless its for my LO, in that case everyone knows who she is and they do anything for her )

we have the 8 o clock thingy too.. :/ it's terrible..
and even then they ask if it's an emergency (SAY YES everytime... otherwise they don't see you for weeks!!)
xxxx

Edit: I know it's naughty - but if it was that much of an emergency i'd ring A&E not my doctors? so it's like asking, would you mind waiting a lifetime for an appointment? or would you like one straight away? hehe xx

Not been here for a while, work work work :(
it wasnt very nice :( he made me feel like i was making a massive deal out of nothing i tried to explain i was really struggling n he tried to giive me a presecription for paracetamol i told him to shove it! lol he then said he could giv me cocodamol and i sed i dnt want tht as it makes me poorly! i ended up leaving in tears and feeling like an idiot lol!!

i got to work the next day and was sick twice and fainted ( v embarrasing) lol turns out im aneamic so got iron tablets now, after i got home i had terrible stomach pains so rang the midwife, was passed around from person to person and basically made to feel like an over reacting idiot again! lol i kno i must sound it but i was generally worried it just seems all of a sudden its one thing after another :(
good news tho ive managed to bring my maternity leave forward so ill be finished in 3 weeks, 4 maximum instead of 6 so thats something, my poor body just doesnt wana get up anymore lol!! x

ARGH, doctors are a nightmare!!! I've been trying to get an appointment for like a week, the problems are just mounting up!
Glad that they've given you iron tablets, was that the cause of your back pain or just another thing?
Paracetamol? Glad you told him to shove it hun, I would have shoved it up there for him! Bloody cheek!

Its a joke! nope nothing for the back pain the iron tablets just help with tiredness etc. Back pain still here, really getting me down somedays but i think its just mixed with boredom as well! its made me really want to not go to my GP anymore tho, they just dont take u seriously a few weeks ago i was sent away with a patronising smile and it turned out i had tonsilitus and a chest infection :/ i took my mum the next day and he gave me anti biotics! idiots!!
