Hiya

My daughter will be 23 months when my baby is born and I don't think she will be ready for a buggy board so I am looking at purchasing a second hand double.

I have looked at the Phil and Ted's Navigator /Dash, I was impressed but read stories of people having issues as the baby got a little older and too old for the cocoon.

I also looked at the Icandy peach but I don't like the way the toddler seat is set up so high.

Has anyone else got any recommendations?

I have a budget of around £250 for a second hand model.

I would prefer front and back, because I don't want any issues going through doorways!

I've have two doubles, my first is a graco tandem. It is pretty big but my oldest was 2 1/2 when I brought it so it needed to be big to fit him. I really like its easy to push and was £150 including rain cover and cocoon so well within budget.

My second is a Joie pink and blue side by side. It's fairly narrow for a side by side pushchair and folded up fitted easily in the boot of my Vauxhall Astra but still struggles with doorways so probably not what you want

I've heard good things about the baby jogger city select and also the mountain buggy duet, which is a side by side but only a few cm wider than a tandem.

Love love love the baby jogger- it's roomy and you can get attachments for carry cots and car seats.
Ive now got the single version because I loved the double so much

I have a Phil and teds navigator - my 2 are 17 months apart and I love it. Yes, there was a short period (2 months maybe) where DS was too big to be able to lie flat, but still too small for the seats, but I got round it by using car seat adapters and putting him in the car seat up-top - fine as a short term measure. Plus mine's a v1 model, and I think I'm right in saying that the newer model is better that way. It's so easy to push, kerbs are a doddle, and the second seat is discreet so you can leave it in place as your eldest gets older incase they get tired without feeling like you are pushing round a pram with an empty seat (my 4 year old still jumps in for a rest sometimes if we're out somewhere all day). Downside is that it's heavy for lifting / folding, ao prob not as good for this who need it in /out of the car boot a lot.

We have a graco studio tandem duo and I love it. My kids are 22 months apart so I would recommend it for your kids. My toddler still naps in the day so is perfect when we are out. It fold down small, isn't heavy and has a huge shopping basket. I got it for £120 including cosy toes, two tables and rain covers. I have no issues getting on and off buses with it. I don't drive so have to do it often. Xxx

Look up graco ready2grow, it'll last a long time.

My daughter was a bit older when my son was born, but I just stuck with an umbrella stroller for my daughter and a carrier for my son. Now that my daughter is getting better about walking, I've been putting my son in the stroller more, but could still manage him in a carrier if my daughter still needed the stroller.

I have an out n about nipper 360 and LOVE it! It is a side by side but I have never had any problems getting in doorways as its not hugely wide. It pushes like an absolute dream. My 2.5yr old hardly goes in it anymore (I walk about with a half empty buggy most of the time) but I dread having to buy a normal buggy for my dd3 because I know it will be crap to push in comparison!

Phil and teds navigator v2 is very good. We had this for a while, and it's very robust and built to last. And turns back to a single when your older child is walking everywhere

Used our peach 2 as a double for a while too, and that's my favourite personally though.

I'm not sure I could stretch to the cost of the phil and teds v2 - even second hand they seem to be going for £300+. Out of the side by side doubles, do any of these give an option for parent facing? (Just thinking about having a newborn and wouldn't be comfortable world facing when they are so small). I did consider the option of just sticking with my daughter in her Maclaren stroller and the baby in a sling, but I don't think my OH would go for that as he does a lot of walking. Also, when DD is at the childminder, the newborn couldn't go in her stroller until it was much bigger.

Does anyone know if you can use the Baby Jogger city select with one toddler seat and one carry cot?

Graco ready2grow has a parent facing seat. It also changes to a buggy board for older kids.

I have an oyster max and Tbf I love it I got that second hand off eBay for £180 xx

Just a little update on this.

I decided to go for the Phil and Teds Navigator V2 (the one with the autostop brake). I have been using it as a single so far and once as a double with a friends baby for a practice!

So far I love it, the only downside is the fact it is quite heavy to lift in and out of the car, but then I have been used to my Maclaren Stroller so I think anything is heavier than that!
