Hey guys,

My OH was recommended the Dr Brown bottles as they are meant to reduce risk of colic due to a slit in the teat that stops air from going in. Has anyone used these? I am planning on giving my LO a bottle of EBM each night and want the best bottle for her.

Thanks,

xxx

We switched to them because of colic and they worked great. They have an extra couple of parts which creates a vacum to prevent air bubbles.
They are very good quality and will last a long time. Downside is they are a pain to clean and expensive.
Would definitely recommend them

It's not to do with any slit in the teat (which I've never seen, so not sure what your friend is talking about, tbh!). The way it works is that there is an added part to the bottle which draws the air through it, up a central pipette, and out behind the milk. So there is less air being blown through the milk (which is good in terms of it maintaining its nutrient content) and also less air being swallowed by the baby (hence the relief of colic symptoms).

They are great bottles, they totally changed our lives. Tommee Tippee do a similar thing, which I've found just as good (actually better, as they hold more and don't get suck-back up the pipette). It seems to be that most people like one or the other, not both!

dont know anyone that has used them and really had a bad thing to say about them.
i switched to these bottles due to my babys colic and couldnt recomend them enough x

Hiya - I too switched Izzy to these bottles as she kept getting trapped wind and suffered from colic.
I have 5 DR BROWNS bottles for sale - if ur interested PM me x

I just went out and bought 2 yesterday. I like them a lot, he still spits up but hes not crying with gas pains anymore :) I hate the Tommy Tippee ones, they pour out milk in a stream out of the nipple (the ones I had did anyway) and made my little guy really gassy. The dr. Browns are the only ones I've found that I like so far :)

got them too and luv them, im sure nicole likes them too lol. i have 3 that leak but i found if i keep the Dr. Brown logo facing up they dont . my niece recommended them to me

My oh is out buying sum just now due to our little man being VERY gassy from his bottom end and he seems to be getting very frustrated, specially at nite! We also have him on infacol but really hoping the bottles work, really not great fun when he his awake for 2 hours at nite

We switched and DD still uses them. They are great for reflux and aspiration. DD is on level 3 nipples now but we plan to move up to level 4 then y cut before our switch to cups at some point.

We started out using tommee tippee but switched to Dr Browns after a while and we love them! The only downside is that sometimes they seem to leak when hot water is poured into them (not sure why that happens but it just pours out the sides when you put the top on!) Doesn't seem to be too bad if you don't put the top tightly on before it cools! But other than that, I can't recommend them enough.

I use Dr. Browns and I am very pleased with them.

Just some tips though:

Unscrew bottle tops when heating otherwise they leak. Also, I wouldn't buy them secondhand because wear and tear makes them less effective in removing the air from the liquids it holds. Also, wash the itty-bitty crevices thoroughly to prevent mold build-up--tedious but necessary.

HTH.
