Jacob has a bottle at around 7pm then that's him until about 3 or 4am when he wakes up and takes about 4 or 5oz then he wakes again around 6:30ish and takes a couple of oz. I was wondering if it's be ok to try offering water at 3 am instead and seeing if that would help him break the habit so that he would sleep through until about 6:30 then take a full bottle. What do you think?

bottle fed babies don't really need any water till they get off the bottle. The formula making has all the fluids they need. I'd be careful on how much water you give him cause it could flush the good things out of them. This is what I was told by my daughters peditrician

This is what happened to me with Katie so what I decided to do after reading a baby book was to feed her at 7pm for bed then I gave her a dream feed at 11pm of about 4oz and after 5 nights of this she started sleeping through until 7.30am.
I would advise whatever you try it can take between 3 and 7 nights for it to stick so bear with it.

well after me posting that, Jacob took a bottle at 7pm and was out for count by 7:30 and he slept right through until 6am!! Yay!!! He did wake up and grumble a bit at 4am but hubby gave him his dummy and he settled quickly again - I really hope this is the start of many more nights like that. We have tried the dream feed but he wont take it unless he really wants it then it makes him really grumpy and he still woke up at 3 or 4 for a feed.

Can babies sleep for continuous 12 hrs without a feed? My LO is only 8 wks old, & he sleeps at around 12:00 am & wakes up starving between 6:00 - 7:00 am. I thought that was the max :)
