So i went to the docs this morn to confirm my pregnancy and get the ball moving, and he was absolutley useless! Only been with the practice for a week and didnt even know how to use the system. Tried booking me in with a hospital i didnt want, purely because he didnt know how to get a different one on the screen and had to get a receptionist to show him what to do. I asked him about early scans as i had a mmc 12 months ago and a mc 9 months ago and he basically fobbed me off saying the midwife will discuss this with me. BUT he then said it will be 3-4 weeks before i see her, that will make me 8-9 weeks and everything that happened last year was at 6 weeks but i didnt know untill 9 weeks that the pregnancy had ended. Im so dissapointed and now im worrying that if something does happen there going to make me wait untill 12 weeks to find out :(

Wow he was pretty usless, I am sorry hun. I suggest you find yourself another doctor. One who knows his stuff :). Good luck hunny,I am sure ur little one is doing ok right now :).

Oh that sounds awful hun. Can you see another doctor? Or are you stuck with just the one? i agree aswell with trying to get hold of your MW in advance. When I went to the doctor she just gave me folic acid and a number for the MW I had to do everything via her then, so worth a go?

Thankyou, i just feel so down, i was really expecting to come out of there with some positive advice but now i just feel like they dont care. I will ring the midwife's first thing Monday morning like you said, i hadnt thought of that, Thankyou. Ive read some posts by Ladies from america and it seems like the docs there are really on the ball with blood tests and early scans, wish they were like that over here :( Thanks girls xxx

Hey honey, sounds pretty normal to me. You probably wont get refered for an early scan because the NHS would rather fund their money into paying for drugs for herion addicts!!! Grrr!!

Id get hold of mw and see if you can get an early appt with her, becuase its her that will need to refer you xx

I think the doctor is more involved over America. I seem to remember some American women mentioning they don't have midwives? or they aren't as popular over there? Don't worry hun things will work out. Fingers crossed things will go well Monday for you =]

I was always under the impression that if you had a mc previously you'd get refered to you mw ASAP. Hope you have better luck on Monday hun.

I rang my surgery for confirmation of my pregnancy and i was booked to see my mw straight away (next week @ 5w3). Its well crap that countys dont have uniform procedure so we know what to expect...

:hugs:

Midwives are an elective choice for us here in the USA.. some hospitals don't even allow midwives even! Almost all interaction is with the doctor. You can hire a midwife privately and some hospitals let them oversee the birth, but in my area, the only choice for a midwife is to do a home birth.

They're opening a birthing center in October though, :) As long as I'm not high risk, I can choose to go there with full midwife care etc.

I would try and see another doc at the practise, maybe this one is just a bit crap?!! Failing that get the community midwife number for your local hospital and track your mw down, I'm sure they'll help given 2 previous miscarriages. mw are usually a LOT more on the ball than docs who basically have no dealings with pregnant women anymore, the UK is totally mw led now so docs are always a bit useless I find. Good luck honey, just keep pestering xxx

I've never had a misscarriage but im sorry to hear about your 2. My doctor was pretty much the same though.

I know someone who sadly had 4 misscarriages within about 2 years i think and she was never sent for early scans must depend on the area or something i dont know!

Could you book a private scan ??

Try your midwife hun or the epu:thumbup:

Thats crap with your doctor tho, hope you got the hospital you wanted?:flower:

hi honey, can you call the practice manager? there will be someone who is that dr's boss, try and talk to them or your midwife.

We are due the same day btw :)

Z
xx
