BecaUse of the size of my baby at my '12week' scan, they said I was 13. Although my period was only 12 weeks before (not 13) do there was no way I could have been 13

But the computer says so... So they're going by that

I've never experienced this with my other two pregnancies so I was wondering if this was common

Do they change your due date each time going on the size of your baby?

My due dates been changed back a few times now!

It seems i got a + pregnancy test before i was pregnant :D

I think they just think that all babys should be the same size on the same day! which is impossiable!!

Exactly...

My worry is- if I'm Induced at 37weeks like I was my last... Because the computer says i
37, they'll think it's fine.. But infact, baby will only be 36?!?! Not so good in my
Books ;(

if your period was 12 weeks before your 12 week scan you would be further ahead surely? :S

but that being said.. my due date went back because baby was mesuring small.. then at my 12 week scan, my official dating scan they moved it forward again. 4 days behind LMP date. but its quite unlikely they will change it again.. but they could do if your dates are not matching up to average mesursements at 20 weeks, but they normally stick to your 12 week date x

At my 12 wk scan, I was put back a week. I hear a lot of people being put forward/backwards. Most babies don't show on their actual due date anyways, just generally in that time frame.

Why do they change your week due to size of babies. No baby is the same size

Why can't they stick to your last period like it's worked for hundreds of years?

dating scans can be 5 days either way anyways, my friend thought she was 12 weeks (at the time 2 weeks behind me) went to her 12 week scan.. to find out she was 14 weeks and due the same day as me! strangeee,

but they work out due dates using LMP based on a 28 day cycle.. and alot of ladies have different length cycles, meaning they are further behind/ahead of midwifes working outs

It's not an exact science. Just because you know when your last period was doesn't mean you know what baby was conceived. Maybe you ovulated and implanted early! That's why they don't just go by LMP xx

with my son they bookd me as conciving a whole 2 weeks thats 14 days after the last time me and OH had slept in the same bed! all the way through they insisted on it, go into labour 1 day late. he comes out perfectly. then his skin peels, the midwife said, thats a sign he was overdew... maybe your dates were right. =S leave them to it! its only an estimate!

My date has changed twice but it's all been within a week of the original scan estimated due date. Usually, since it is not an exact science, they will stick with LMP as an official date but may give you something more unofficial to prepare you. Babies are considered full term at 37 weeks. It's not necessarily about how many weeks the baby is in you when you get that far along, it has more to do with the development of the baby's organs and their ability to use it on their own once being born. A bigger baby does not imply everything is properly formed, but at at that point, things like the lungs and heart are much stronger than say, at 24 weeks. If they are inducing anyone at 37 weeks, I imagine they've done the proper scans to check for the health of the baby and the mother and they wouldn't do anything to put the baby or mother at risk.

I only had sex once in tw month on day 11 of my cycle. So even
If I ovulated on day 11, it's still not a whole week ;(

Thank u x

Thank you :) I just panic. Don't want baby arriving early and them thinking he/she will be all ok

Thanks for your help

They never checked my son over before inducing me at 37weeks (due to very severe depression) he was very jaundice and needed light therapy for 5 days, but thankfully that's all

i'm VERY surprised they've done this. up to about twelve weeks, all babies develop at more or less the same rate. after that, there can be quite a bit of variance in their rates of development. typically once you hit 12 weeks, they won't change your due date because of this.
