Hi, we are pretty much certain on Edith Lily and probably call the baby Eadie if it's a girl.

But I've recently had someone say ooh as in Eadie Mcreadie from Balamory...

What are people's thoughts on this?

I would never have spelt it Eadie just Edie. However I love it! Please don't let these people put you off.

Its like Alice and that stupid song or Rupert and that damn bear. People will always find something to say. Its a lovely name.

When I said I like the name Theodore I got 'what like the chimpmunk' my reply was 'yes...yes exactly like the chimpmunk. In fact that is going to be his middle name, you like?'

I love Edie but not spelled Eadie. Edie is a common/known spelling and if I saw "Eadie" I would probably pronounce it Ay-dee assuming that the 'a' was popped in to differentiate pronounciation.

There's no association that comes up with the name for me.

Thanks ladies. I have no idea on the spelling of Edie - if we have a girl the registered name would be Edith, I thought Edie would be pronounced liked Eddie etc.

I love the name. Prefer the spelling Edie, though :)

I love the name but I would spell it Edie.
people will alwags find a fault.
daisys a cow.
maxwell is a coffee etc.
if you like It thats all that matters x

Edith is on my list if this one is a girl, love it. We'd have the nickname Edie too. Can't say I've ever heard of Edie Mcreadie, and I'm sure most others won't have either. Like a pp said, people find things to say about all sorts of names. My daughter is called Elsie, which I've read someone on here say is a cows name!

I love Edith/Edie, DH won't consider it though, boo. I think that with any name there will be "oh, like.." comments. But unless it is some hideous comparison (like its the full name of a serial killer, for example) I wouldn't let it put me off. If Edie McReadie is the worst comparison people make I'd say the names a good'un!

Thanks ladies! I think I'm having a boy anyways - although I thought that with my DD! X

My great grandmothers name was Edith. It is a nice name.

JessieG...I have a Theodore (although he does appear to be more of a Teddy) and I also get the chipmunk comment. I tell people I'm desperate for more boys so I can have Alvin and Simon!!!
