i am now SO tempted to go into every ELC store i can find, and buy all their farmyard pigs (you know the ones you buy separately?) and boycott other livestock. JUST PIGS!

Just imagine.. it'd cause a worldwide stampede for pigs... shortages everywhere... kids not knowing where bacon comes from.... vicious circle

It is bizarre. Infact the more I think about it, surely its jus someone trying to cause trouble. Just to get an uproar from people. If it was that much of a problem to muslims they would make a specific farm minus the 'offensive' animals for those that chose to buy it that way, not take away the pig for everyone. Lets face it, theres no way we can remove pigs from our every day living. Whats next, take bacon/ham etc off our shelves altogether so NO-ONE can eat it, jus cuz its offensive for the shoppers that dont eat it. Ban peppa pig?! Its crazy.

Agree. I'm muslim & I live in a muslim country, & I have seen pig toys here. Never thought it's offensive. We dont eat toys

They also sell ham/pork meat here, & there are also dishes with pork meat & alcohol which are offered openly in restaurants.

I was just saying this to my OH earlier, that it probably wasn't even a muslim who complained about it......it's completely silly. Still think it's funny because it is so ridiculous to be taken seriously xx

That's what I would like to know - has a single Muslim made a complaint about there being pigs in the set? I would happily bet my shoe collection that they couldn't give a big shiny sh!t.

I have NEVER met a Muslim who holds these beliefs. This whole country is so pathetically afraid of not being politically correct. It drives me insane. Especially the freaking Daily Fail.

Sadly though - "Muslims are completely respectful of all faiths and live happily alongside Christians, Jews, Buddhists etc" isn't as attention grabbing a headline as "MUSLIMS HATE PIGS".

this sort of thing really annoys me. the powers that be seem to be all to quick to ban anything that could be seen as racist or anything that goes against certain religions for fear of offending people.

but it seems that if you are white or christian then it doesnt matter if you are offended!
i mean, in my sons school they have stopped singing baa baa black sheep because it could be seen as racist and they now have to sing baa baa white sheep....is that not just as racist??

Not so long ago on the news there was a story about the government wanting to change the name of christmas to winterval to stop other cultures from getting offended, well im sorry but christmas is a christian holiday(after all, its celebrating the birth of christ) and if we are being totally politically correct then if you arent christian then you shouldnt celebrate it so it shouldnt bother you.

i dont see the government sugesting changing the name of ramadan or anything like that...of course not...that would be racist!
it really is getting ridiculous in this country, i dont know what they will think of next!

If you actually read the article there is absolutely nothing about Muslims being offended and they put the pig back in the toy farm so this is just another story written by the Daily Mail to make the 'White Christians' of this country riled up. It appears to have worked.

I have to agree with you. Not just about this story its alot of how things are in this country. It doesnt get me angry, just makes me think how pathetic it all is.

thats kind of my point too. im not religious in the slightest and it doesnt make me angry as such. i just think its getting so silly in this country now

But after writing to the ELC's customer services she got an email reply admitting the pig had been removed in case it upset Muslim or Jewish parents. Both religions ban the eating of pork because they consider the pig an unclean animal.


so it states there that the pig was removed in case it upset any muslims or jews.
as i said originally, this country seems to be getting ridiculous when it comes to things like this.
