Hi I had a miscarriage at xmas and I would have been approx 4-5 weeks at that point. Mine started with severe cramping and lower back pains which lasted on and off for abot 4 days, then I started spotting like a brown discharge, I had that for abot 3 days then I had a watery blood red discharge for abot a week. I still had the pains and cramps intermittently.
I was eventally referred to EPAU when I was approx 6wks for a scan, the scan showed nothing and my blood hcg level was 89 which is low considering how many weeks I shold have been.
Two days later I started a proper "bleed" but much less than a normal period, this lasted for 3 days then stopped completely. I had a further blood hcg test which showed my levels were at 13 and i was told the m/c was more or less over. One week later i did a home preg test which came back as negative and therefore I knew in my own mind it was over.
The pains were horrible but I could cope with them, the bleeding was not bad either considering, never noticed any clots or tissue etc. For me the worse part was assming I was miscarrying but not being able to have it confirmed de to me being so early, it was the "not knowing for sure" that got to me the most I think.
If you feel ok and dont want to see a doc then once the bleeding stops for a few days get a home test and keep testing until ur negative again. Obviously if it doesnt feel right see a doc. Personally I would tell my gp so its on my records as if you have problems with any future pregnancies then I believe you have to have approx 3 m/c before docs are able to perform any tests etc.
Sorry have waffled on enough, take care xx
