I am having a diagnostic lap in Dec to look for endometriosis, but been in pain since I came off bc 1 year ago. I was reading online that endo can cause a short luteal phase (which I know I have got since started charting about 6 months ago) Mine has been as little as 8 days but after taking vit b6 etc have got it to 10 days. I have cycles of 26-28 days. I wondered if this was true - anyone else found similar with endo?

yep! this was all me! TTC for 2 1/2 years, lots of pain especially between ovulation and my period. periods were agony!!! I had hip pain for second half of cycle as well.

My luteal phase was 8 days, with B6 it went to 9,10 or 11 days.

i had a laperoscopy at the end of January, endo was confirmed and lasered. I was then given 3 months of clomid to "give me a boost" the consultant said. I started that 3rd April and it worked first time! expecting my little boy jan 8th.

I will point out that the first period after the endo surgery was the most painful EVER! because everything is still recovering inside. but the one after was just like my fist periods as a teenager were!

Good luck to you! hope it works for you too. I was actually pleased when endo was confirmed as it meant I finally knew WHY it was not happening. It also helped that my tubes were clear, no endo there! It was on my bladder, bowel and overies though.

Wow thanks Daisii, love a good success story. Good luck with your pregnancy. I have known for a while that things weren't right, so glad I am finally having a lap done. I have had one tubal miscarriage tho, so just hoping my tubes aren't too bad.

Sorry to jump in here.
Daisii - My periods have been loads more painful since the lap but I'm into my 3rd month since. Should the pain be less by now? Were you ovulating b4 they gave you Clomid? Sorry for all the questions but I've not been offered anything to help, and me pains still there all the time.

summerbreeze - personally I don't get a short LP with endo. Mine's about 14/15 days. Sorry can't be more help.

...I had a lap & most of my endo removed & my periods are, for want of a better word, fantastic now. I never realised that my pain was unusual until after the lap. Touch wood, since then has been a breeze. My consultant said he couldn't get to all of it, but even so, I barely have to take paracetamol these days when AF is here. If yours are still painful, :hugs: perhaps you need to see the consultant again - have you had your follow up appt?

Summerbreeze - I never linked the two as I didn't know I had endo until I had my lap. But I charted for years & my LP was 10 days sometimes 9. I have since lost 2 stone & my LP is now 11 days & sometimes 12. Dunno if it's the weightloss or just that I'm getting older

Summer, I havent been diagnosed with Endo (yet) but have all the signs/symptoms etc and Im convinced i have it but FS is against me having a LAP (i think i need to push her on it....).

Anyway my LP is 9 days and then I spot brown stuff for 5 days and then get AF for 3 days and spot again for another 4 days (its a nightmare - 12 days in total when DH cant go near me). The Bvits didnt help me at all. Ive been reading online all morning about a diet for endo - most say to avoid wheat and dairy so think that might be my next step if the FS wont do the LAP.

I would go see the consultant again, there is a chance they did not get all of it. Most people have great results and periods are better after, like i said after the first one, my second was a dream! but I do know of people who this has not been the case for... as i said, id go back and start complaining! You could always ask for clomid at the same time!

I did ovulate before (at least I got ov pain and positive ov packs!).

good luck

Thanks everyone. I've been back to see my consultant who said he got what he could see. I've told him nothing's better and have been told put up with it or hormone injections like Prostap (?) He wanted to discharge me.
TTC for 11 months so stuck between a rock and hard place. x

Reba - I'm reading a book about the endo diet at mo and intending to try it. x by Dian Shepperson Mills

Thank you for all your advice ladies. Reba - I know it's a nightmare. My GP didn't even acknowledge my pains even after seeing him quite a few times. It was actually the gyno at the hospital at the epu unit who listened to me after my miscarriage, so if that hadn't happened I would probably be no further. I do feel lucky that I am having a lap after hearing that it can take people years to get diagnosed.

Floofymad - we sound very similar - I have also been ttc for 11 months. I am 31 and I have suspected endo, but shall know for sure after December. Gonna have a look at your journal now...

Hello!

I have stage 2 Endo. I have had 2 laps, 1 hysteroscopy, and 2 dyes. Although my endo was classified as average, it was extremely painful. I am 12 weeks preggo and it still hurts. My friends that are further along than me and have endo say that it didn't really start to go away until after 20 weeks.

I have very normal periods (29-30 days) and a very normal luteal phase (14 days). I have heard that endo and pcos are more prone to shorter or longer luteal phases. The good thing to know is that the surgery will be beneficial, and I am living proof that you can get preggo with endo. I had to resort to IVF because of the endo, but I am almost 12 weeks and everything seems to be going well.

Good Luck!! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Bebecake - congratulations! and thanks for sharing about when your pains went away. My gyno has told me the solution to my pains are to get pregnant and it will instantly go away!
