Sorry abourt grammar and any typos, im on my phone. Hey girls I know alot of u probably don't know me, but as u can see, I've been around bnb for a while..I mostly stick to the journals but have ventured out for your help. I have pcos and have had regular cycles since 6 months of clomid, metformin, iui with femara and vitex fertilaid, etc. You name it, I've tried it and have never ggotten a hint of bfp. I've had lots of tests including hsg which was I clear. Im on a Bcp break and just got af today. :( My question is, if you were in my boat would you do just an endometrial biopsy or lap&dye? If I do lap & dye, can they do a biopsy and clean anything out they may find? Cysts, scar tissue...etc. how much does it normally cost and how long is recovery? Like time off work and everything? I just did and hsg last time instead if lap and dye and now im wishing I would have just gone for it. I have cysts and had a LEEP procedure in the past for moderate to severe dysplasia (precancerous cells on cervix) On cd1 for a few months I would have unbearable cramps where id sleep with heating pad and take midol like crazy. Does this sound like endo? What would you do if you were me?

Endo is uterine growth that grows outside of the uterus. It can grow on your tubes, ovaries, rectal area, and even lower abdominal area.

The biggest symptom of endo is pain, having more than one period a month, period lasting longer than 7 days, and particularly heavy AF. I have endo, but have none of the symptoms.

If you have endo, it consists of little black spots and adhesions, they can go in surgically and use laser treatment. A doctor can call for a biopsy to be done by removing a sample of the uterine growth to be tested. This just ensures you have it, for insurance purposes or if future FSs want to see proof you indeed have endo.

The lap and dye is a couple hour procedure in which you are put completely under. Usually you'll leave the hospital, but in some cases they may have you stay overnight. Recovery time is 2 weeks, with no work, lifting over 25 pounds, sex, and exercise for at least a week. With my insurance I only had to pay $75, but then again I have great insurance. Without it, the starting price tag is $1,500 on up $15,000.

I'm in the same boat and going for surgery next month. I've been ttc for 11 months but have very painful periods.

I had a lap in march along with a hysteroscopy, stage 3 endo was ofound and removed. I had no symptoms! I think the surgery costed about $8000 total, but my insurance covered about 60% of it... Hope that helps some! Good luck!!

I also was told no sex or working out for a week after surgery. Recovery wasn't bad, the worst part was the gas in your abdominal from my re inflating my belly to see better. Other than that, I was up moving around that same evening!

Just wanted to let you know, you're not alone. My gyno did an HSG last month where no dye went in either tube.

I have always had heavy periods and cramps, clots and flow have gotten WAY worse in the past 2-3 years. I suspect endo is the culprit.

I have my first appt with an RE next month. I plan to exclusively ask for a lap. I don't want to discuss IVF as it is NO WHERE NEAR in my range of affordability. I want the lap to see why my tubes are blocked (or if they aren't and just spasmed during the HSG), if I do in fact have endo, and to give them the opportunity to correct the things they may find wrong.

Just my experience so far. I would think since you went with the HSG and now wish you would have gone for the lap, go ahead and do the lap now.
