Can anyone please tell me anything and everything they know about endometriosis and TTC? I've just been told today there's a good chance I have it. I'm worried and now we're considering moving up TTC.

Thank you to anyone who can help

The only real way to diagnose endo is through laparoscopy surgery! I was told that because of my age (32) and never having been pregnant before the chances of me having some form of it are about 80%. So after ttc for almost 2 years and doing 6 rounds of clomid I listened to my RE and had him do the surgery, he found stage 3 and removed it! They say your best chances of conceiving are within 6 months of surgery. So after surgery we tried everything, clomid, trigger and iui - we gave this 6 tries before moving on to ivf. Which is where we are now, tww waiting to see if our first round worked!

I have been told by countless women that you can get pregnant twitch endo, but it can take longer. Because of the way I responded to the medication during ivf my doctor thinks there might be something that we haven't thought of before. Hopefully this works and we don't have to go through it again soon!!

Good luck to you! Endo is a horrible disease and you can have it with absolutely no symptoms! If ou suspect ou have it I would highly recommend having a lap to diagnose and treat it!

Thank you! I read that you're at higher risk if your mother and/or sister has endo. My sister has endo and has been TTC for over 2 years. My symptoms have been getting worse over the last couple months. It just worries me. I appreciate your input and good luck with a sticky baby! :)

I do not know anything about it firsthand, but I have a friend who has it and who had four pregnancies, three of which she carried to term :flower: I know TTC was more of a struggle for her but there are lots of success stories.

Thank you so much!! I appreciate you taking the time to say that. It's good to hear there are some success stories after reading so many failed attempts.

I think the odds of conception with endo are good but it depends upon the placement. I had it on my right ovary, which can effect the quality of eggs. My other tube is glued to my stomach, which can effect the egg traveling down the tube.
I have celiac and there is a celiac endo connection for some women. May be worth looking into. Many people find going gluten free reduces endo inflammation.
Another thing I have begun to try is fish oil to reduce inflammation.
But as said get a lap to be sure.
Sometimes doctors will reccomend a period of bcp or something stronger prior to ttc.

Hi ladies-

Just found this thread after doing a search for endo. Went to the FS today for the first time and had an ultrasound - he found what he says looks like endo on my right ovary  Apparently the thing is so big (suspected chocolate cyst?) that he couldn't tell at first that it was my ovary. Luckily the left looked okay on the scan but I know he won't know anything for sure unless I do a lap. Today is not a good day. Gingersnaps, I'd love to hear more about your experience since we have the right ovary issue in common and I'm just starting down this road...

Congrats on your bfp tlm!! That's very encouraging to know that your endo removal was so successful :)

I suspect i have ENDO but been told over the phone I can't have the Lap because my BMI is too high! FS on 16 oct so will be asking again!!

I got my excision in Jan 2011. Chemical pregnancy in May 2011. I have Celiacs as well and I think my bowel was not still healed. The doctor commented on the Celiac and inflammation after my surgery that discovered the endo. Based on what I now know, I think the Celiac has been present since childhood, making my recovery time longer.
But to give you hope. I currently have a BFP. I think it was from the left this month. Despite that tube being glued to my stomach. I felt O pains there and during my TWW (maybe the corpus luteum as felt like a cyst).
I contracted a yeast infection in my tww and now have brown spotting today, that began as light pink a few days ago. I hope it is from the infection and/or irritation from the applicator for the cream. My BFP signs are still strong. I wonder also if endo girls are more likely to spot in early pregnancy:shrug: Am going to google that.

Oh wow, congrats on the bfp gingersnaps! Thanks for giving me hope. I read somewhere that endo tends to flare during the first tri (which could be causing your spotting) but then really quiets down during the 2nd and 3rd tri. I hope that happens for you!!

As for me, when I look back, it seems pretty obvious all along that I've had endo, but never had severe pain (except CD1-2), just little nagging occasional pains. Still, the signs are there. So I won't be surprised at all to get the diagnosis confirmed. This month I've had horrible cramping starting yesterday (10dpo). It's much worse then the usual month. I'm pretty sure it's due to clomid flaring the endo. This was my first and last month on clomid for sure. Hopefully if my hsg comes up clear I can move on to femara, since it also calms endo.

Hi, I'm just waiting for lap/hsg and a hysteroscopy to remove polyp appointment to come through as scan showed a cyst on ovary and they suspect it is endo, I have irregular cycles 35-75 days apart and rarely ovulate, last progesterone test was 'borderline' ovulation and that was a 48 day cycle.
My periods are also really heavy and agony for first 2 days, needing time off work and generally gluing myself to sofa with ibuprofens and hot water bottle
Ive suspected endo for a while, just ready for some answers now!

There are a lot of encouraging stories though, congratulations to all with bfp's, you give us hope!
xx

I have endometriosis, last surgery august 2011. Had chocolate cysts drained from left ovary (which was very swollen and stuck to my tube) Am back in same situation again and the pain is just awful. Has 3 surgeries so far and back to see specialist on 16th to see if i need another one. The pain comes back so much quicker after each surgery and now me and my bf have been trying to get pregnant. This is our 2nd month trying as at almost 38 time is not on my side now either. AF due sunday and I have already got the familiar cramp and bad mood. grrr. I hope and pray everything works out for you, it's such a horrible disease with little understanding from others

hi ladies, hope you dont mind me popping in, just after an opinion.
Had my daughter in 2006, had to have termination in 2007 and had a miscarriage in 2009.
Now been ttc for over 2 and half years since contraception ran out -for bout 3 n half years i have been having excrutitiating pain especially around ovulation. I also find when i am due AF and during her unwanted but never failing visits, that i have trouble going to the bathroom for #2. The pain i get is awful and can spread down my legs and up into my chest
went for u.s scan few weeks ago n she couldnt see anything, i insisted she do transvaginal u/s as i knew somethin is v wrong. she said my left ovary is enlarged and she could see "thickening" on it. That was few days before AF. i have to go back in cupla weeks for her to take another look which will be week after AF this time
-u think from brief symptoms have mentioned and what tech said this could be endo? My mum had it all over her bladder n all over the shop basically.
any advice much appreciated xxx

hello, It sounds like it could be endometriosis, my scan last week showed an enlarged ovary, i mentioned the pain so they made sure to scan both sides (previously just had left ovary pain) I googled it to see if was another cyst and it is more likely (according to google) to be endometriosis. I get pain most of the month much worse at 'suspected' ovulation and horrendous pain for the few days leading up to and during my period. If one of my cysts burst during my period i bleed brown 'old' blood for another few days and am in agony. I apologise for not having a nice answer for you, but that's just how it is for me. Hope you get some answers at next visit x
