Does an engagement ring have to labelled as an engagement ring in the shop to be one or can you use any ring?

You can use any ring, of course an diamond is traditional, but I know a girl who had a beautiful sapphire instead.

I don't like solitaire rings, so mine is 'officially' labelled as a Half Eternity ring.
I love it, because it is different.

Anything! Mine was (is) tanzanite with little diamonds. Hold on and I'll try and find a pic from when I first had it

If it fits on your finger and you like it then go for it.

I have no idea if mine was labelled engagement ring, it was just a ring I think. The registrar/vicar will still let you get married - some people have no engagement ring at all.

I didn't have an engagement ring, I don't like the history behind the whys.
I had a £25 wedding band made fro. Tungsten and it doesn't even fit me anymore.
I now wear any dress ring I please or don't bother at all.
