Hi, I'm now 12 weeks 'pregnant' but still haven't actually had any confirmation that there is actually a baby in there.
I had a bleed at 4 weeks which I mistook for my period, so didn't actually realise I was pregnant until about 7 weeks. Then the midwife was booked up for another 3+ weeks. I saw her on the 23rd of December, she calculated that I was 10+6. I'm now 12 weeks and haven't even got an appointment for my scan - I guess the Christmas holidays will add even more delay.
I feel like a bit of a fraud as nobody even knows for sure that I am pregnant and a little concerned that I might not get a scan before 14 weeks and miss the deadline for screening tests.
I want to enjoy being pregnant but can't really announce it until we've actually seen a baby!

How frustrating! I'd probably phone the midwife again today, ask about your scan date and mention that you're worried they'll miss the nt time window. If they're not helpful, I'd probably consider booking a private nt scan, if it's important to you. The info they gave me states that if for any reason you're too far on at the "12 week scan", they just do a blood test instead, which also looks for chromosomal problems but isn't as reliable as the combined test. There was some confusion over my dates but they flat out refused an early dating scan, saying that if I missed the nt scan time, a blood test would have to do. I've since had a private dating scan and luckily my 12 week nhs scan is booked for the right time. But yeah, if it's important to you, I'd get on it now.

No confirmation of pregnancy or just no ultrasound?
I'd be looking for other doctors for a confirmation of pregnancy, urine and blood.
I've only had a 9 week ultrasound and honestly I'm convinced I'm growing a baby dinosaur lol...looked nothing like a baby at that point.
I'm shocked you haven't seen a doctor yet...I've been going every 3 weeks or so since 5 week confirmation

We only get one ultrasound and that's at 18 weeks. Though maybe at the next appt they'll check for a heartbeat via doppler? Our hospital doesn't do bloodwork or urine tests either because most people take hpts. (This is in the US even) I do a big sigh of relief when I hear that baby's heartbeat for the first time though!! Pregnancy sure feels long in the beginning

Have you asked for a scan? Call and request the nuchal scan done before 14 weeks.

My 1st baby no scan until 16 weeks
2nd baby no scan until 20 weeks
3rd and current baby no scan until 15 weeks

However with 2 and 3 we were able to find a heartbeat on a doppler...might this be an option, to put your mind at ease?

Thanks everyone for replying. I phoned the doctors surgery to see if they had my appointment details on their system but they don't have access to hospital appointments.
I have taken about 50 hpts, all positive and am already in maternity trousers (it's my 2nd baby).
I don’t even really know if I want to have the combined screening, I'm possibly leaning towards not but I don't want the decision taking out of my hands because I'm too far along.
I'm going to call again on Monday and ask the midwife to chase it up.
Happy New Year!

here the midwife sends off for a scan request at the booking appointment. I hd my booking at 9wks 2days and had my scan at 11wks 4days. Maybe phone the local midwife unit or the pre natal ward at your local hospital to see if you can find out whats happening?

I didn't have my scan til 14+6 :dohh: but that was from me moving house and having to move doctors and I didn't get referred like I should of I had quads test done as couldn't have normal tests.

Fingers crossed you get in soon

I haven't had an nhs scan yet so I paid for a private scan, to put my mind at rest!
