OK, ok, so we haven't been trying for 23 years, but my wife and I have been together since high school - 23 years!
We've been married for 16 years. TTC, although we had all but given up hope, for 8 years. My wife had an ectopic pregnancy 7 years ago, we knew from the very start that it was ectopic and the whole thing was a horrible experience for both of us. After that we couldn't conceive again so saw a fertility specialist. I was diagnosed with low sperm count, and my wife had only 1 remaining tube so our chances were nil. We made the decision to try naturally regardless, she did not want any drugs, or procedures. I respected that. If it happened, it would happen. My wife thought she could tell which months she ovulated on the "good" side, and we knew her ovulation schedule based on the tests we had, so we thought we had a slight advantage there.
I have dealt with our infertility, and had lost all hope, especially over the last year. We have discussed adoption, but it hadn't got to any serious stage of setting anything up.
BAM! She calls me while on a getaway with her GF that she got a BFP. We were very nervous of another ectopic. It's not. confirmed last week with an ultrasound. She's now 8 weeks.
So, after 23 years, we finally get one to stick. We *thought* she was pregnant 22 years ago in high school, but that's another story. Really hoping this will happen. Not sure if I can handle it now at 39 years old (will be when the baby comes), but looking forward to it.
