I just found out yesterday I'm having my 3rd mc, I should be 9+2 but scan yesterday confirmed no heartbeat anymore.

I'm just wondering what others experiences are who have had several losses, in relation to things actually being looked into and tests done to try find any reason for recurring loss and rule out any obvious issues.

I've already been told I'm unlikely to get any help with this because my three losses weren't consecutive, I had my first mc in 2012 just before I had my DD, then a further two this year. I know the fact I've actually had a healthy pregnancy and baby will make it more likely there will be little to no interest in giving me any help with this, but I'm almost 34 and don't feel as though I can just keep blindly TTC for however long and going through more potential losses just assuming the last 3 were just bad luck.

Well, my losses weren't as far along as yours, but my best friend had two losses that were diagnosed at 6-8 weeks with no heart beat. We are both 32. She was told by her DR to try taking baby aspirin. There is no way to prove if it's related but she did try it the cycle she got pregnant and continued it through her pregnancy and now she has a 15mo old. I've added a link to an article (albeit it's about.com and not very scientific-but a good overview) of some of the issues that they think baby aspirin can help with. And it's something that you can be tested for too. It's a place to start anyway....Good luck, and I know what you mean about leaving it to chance. After this last one was ectopic I just feel like I'm running out of time and my capacity to handle another loss is so low that I just don't know what I'd do if it came to that on the third try. https://miscarriage.about.com/od/treatment/f/baby_aspirin.htm

Hi bubbles82,

I've had a bunch of mcs, no live birth yet.
I feel you.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

My point is, is something has gone wrong many times, one should make some changes.
This is what I've done: (don't know if it works yet!)

Stop having sex for 2-3 months (or only very early/late in your cycle). This is because you body might need to heal before it's ready. If you're having sex and get AF, it might even be a chemical pregnancy, which means your body DOESN'T have the opportunity to heal.

Improve health.
I made a six step plan to improve my health, slowly killing bad bacteria, reducing inflammation, then building a healthy gut again, fixing methylation pathways (body's ability to cleanse), getting in nutrition, and balancing my hormones.
I ate really clean (almost no sugar, zero gluten and dairy), took supplements, whole foods and activities, like folinic acid (absorbs better than folic acid), green tea, fasting, daily yoga, methylation pills, soil probiotics, fermented foods daily and tens of others...

If your health is already good, you could start maca.
I'm eating it now (it's my last step), and it prevents mcs by regulating your hormone balance. If you do take it, be sure to avoid the usual pitfalls:

- Get organic. There is discussion which color is best (yellow, red, black), but it all works.
- Start slow. You don't need to scarf a spoonful to get the benefits, start with 1/4 teaspoon and gradually increase to 3/4.
- Don't worry about initial headaches. It's part of the process of cleansing and balancing hormones. Just eat less or skip a day. If you feel really bad, I would go off maca and start with recovering health first.
- Cook it/mix it in hot water. Even though the raw lovers eat everything raw, traditionally maca has always been enjoyed cooked. This means there is no long term evidence on what happens if eating it raw, but hundreds of years of successful use after cooking it. It makes it taste great, too!
- Couple it with L-Arginine - the powder is expensive though, you can get the same by eating ~3 brazil nuts a day. L-arginine is a protein that helps maca have more effect, especially men.
