hello all -
there's lots of info about slightly large kidneys on this forum but our little one has extremely large kidneys - i'm 26 weeks and his kidneys are 37 weeks (but they say they appear to be functioning as they should). they're also echogenic. additionally, his skull is not as developed or opaque as it should be and his head/brain are 4 weeks bigger than they should be (although, again, appears to be functioning and developing as it should). his arms and legs are about 2 weeks big. we've seen a genetic counselor and have other tests lined up - they're telling us since multiple systems are involved it seems likely it's a chromosomal deletion (or something like that) and we won't know the extent of the damage until it manifests. anyone had anything similar? or know of any resources? of course, i'm freaking out and preparing for the worst - although exactly what The Worst could end up being changes on a minute-to-minute basis. all thoughts or information would be appreciated. thanks for reading this!

My baby has enlarged kidneys. Haven't seen too many people on the board who have babies with that issue. I couldn't comment on your babies other measurements, but I have heard the kidneys can return to normal size before birth and if they are born with kidney problems they may need antibiotics at birth or worse case scenario, surgery a few months after birth. Best wishes for you both!

Thanks for replying, Rymel12. The doctors are treating this as way more serious than just an infection so since they're freaking out, we're freaking out. I'm not even sure I can hope for something as simple as antibiotics as the "cure" but maybe until we hear otherwise, I can try. Thanks again.
