I'm really worried about fainting during the section as i nearly fainted 3 times during my ECV today because of the panic and "knowing" what was going on. Just wondering if anybody has any tips to not make myself faint and if it was to happen what would they do if i said i felt like i was going to faint?

The only thing I can suggest is just breath nice and deep, try not to get over whelmed! You might be too excited about seeing your baby to even care about whats going on :)

Good luck!

once you are actually on the table hun you wont faint they keep an eye on you and everything about you. i have a thing about making sure im prepared for every eventuality so i asked my friend who was a theatre assisitant before she had her kids. she said loads of people panic about fainting but the drugs etc are designed to relax you as well and if you were going to faint the anesthetist would be the first to know even before you !! he will then alter the meds slightly to raise yr bp and stop you they know exactly what they are doing hun so try and relax !
i think i would almost pass out if i needed an ecv it sounds scary !!!

I had an emergency section last week and was petrified as had no time to prepare and having never had surgery was worried i would feel pain, they would leave an instrument in me or i would die!
However the anaethetist stays by your head the whole time and like the other post says will ask how your are feeling and can give meds. They are very friendly and laid back and although i never felt faint i felt sick and they treated it immediately.

Not to worry you (but i had never heard of this side effect and would have liked to of to be more prepared) but the meds caused me to shake massively during the procedure which was scary. Its perfectly normal though i found out and only last a couple of hours. Apparently some women react to it and you may not but just thought you might want a heads up :)

Good luck x
