Dont know if this is the best place to post this...

I used to have false acrylic/gel nails before pregnancy, i didnt have them during my pregnancy but now i am wanting them back as we are having a champagne buffet to welcome Ella and for all grandparents/uncles and aunts etc to meet up and we are asking godparents on saturday and i wanted my nails...

is it feasible with a newborn baby to have falsies or should i just get glue on ones for the day until she is a bit bigger?! :muaha::blush::baby:

xx

Hi, my sister got rid of hers after accidentally scratching her daughter with them!!

depends how carefull you are i guess!

I can't really comment as I bite my nails to buggery:blush:

I have had false nails/acrylics when I had one of my other babies and so do looooooooooooooooooads of women. It can be fiddly doing buttons up and press-studs etc but you get used to it:dohh:

If you were worrying about the safety aspect...scratching etc then don't worry. Normal nails are much more "scratchy" than falsies as falsies are pretty blunt. If you need to get some sleep off babies eye etc then just use some damp cotton wool or a muslin to wipe it away IYKWIM? Make sure you're extra careful to wash your hands properly, including under your nails as they can harbour lots of germs....that would be my only concern but thorough washing will sort that problem out and maybe some antibacterial gel(I've been using this anyway as an extra precaution).

Have a wonderful champagne buffet, enjoy yourself and relax:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

hi
i have them (well as i apply them i should really)
keep them short and they are fine

advice if little one gets into sucking on fingers just gave knnuckle rather than finger edge - cleaner anyhow.

have not had any probs and if you are used to having them then their isnt any probs you will back used to them in no time

enjoy your champagne buffet (have a glass for me)

Hiya, personally i dont think i could cope with em, i got caught out (Patrick come two weeks early just after xmas) and i had grown my nails really long and had them french manicured for xmas, when he was born i really struggled in hospital to do his baby grows up as my nails were so long! Plus OH wasnt happy having them dragged across his face whilst i was in labour!!
But i guess if your careful then u will be fine! xx Enjoy your champagne buffet...have a few for me!

I chopped mine off because they were mega long, personally i wouldnt bother having short ones you may aswell save some ££'s and just keep your own natural nails hun

:happydance:Champagne buffet sounds gorgeous!
I find that I'm washing my hands so much that my natural nails are knackered anyway! I'd get ones you can take off after the buffet and see how you get on with them. if they are fine then get the proper ones! Have a great time! You'll have loads of guests so let them do nappy changing and other tasks!

i've been having mine done for years and carried on throughout my pregnancy and obviously when maddi was newborn. when she was newborn i just had the ends slightly filed so they weren't sharp! the lady that does mine is wonderful :) now they're just as they always were and maddi loves to look at them :)

Hey hun, i don't have false ones but i have extremely Longgggggggggggggggg nails. Wasn't sure how i would cope with them when Lexie came but i manage fine. Haven't ever scratched her with them. As some of the other ladies have said i just have to be extra careful with keeping them clean. Have had gel nails before and they were much more blunter than my own nails! Have a lovely reception xx

Hi Katie its Leanna I recognised your picture!!! Congratulations on the arrival of Ella bet she is gorgeous. Last time I saw you was in the hospital when I was waiting for Tobys hearing test. I hope your all doing well. Congratulations again!!! x

One of my friends would get her falsies done as a treat after her twins were born, she hasn't had any problems that I know of. Have fun.

Very True!
I would go for it. I dont get my nails done often, but had them done for Colton's first baby pictures because my hands were in them!

I'm thinking of getting mine back again. They're really blunt, whereas now I have long natural nails and I've caught her with them a few times so I had to cut them off. I don't see how it should be a problem, except getting poo and sick under them but then that's the same with natural nails as well! x

I've been dying to get acryilic nails since Aiden has been born. I've always had really long nails naturally, but my nails are weird and don't like to grow right so I've been looking into getting acryllic ones. I don't think that they would make things difficult, especially if you are used to having them. My grandma's got really long natural nails and doesn't have a problem with Aiden and I also keep my nails long and don't have a problem. Even when I used the cheap fake ones. I say if you feel you can handle it, go ahead a get them done. Just keep them clean. :)

i want mine back too but dont think im gunna bother for a few months

Have them I say, i've had mine for years and took them off towards the end of my pregnancy - but I couldn't cope without them - my nails looked horrible and I had man hands! So I had them done again. I just keep my quite short and they are fine - I've never scratched my baby with mine, because they just aren't sharp.

Go for it!

I have naturally long nails and am rubbish at giving myself manicures to neaten them up. Never had a problem with scratching or doing up poppers etc, but it IS a pain when I am rubbing Snufflebabe on Poppy's clothes. My index finger ends up with a big lump of it under my nail :)

I have real nails and kept scratching her, so I bit them all off (couldnt be bothered to find scissors)
