Is the glue safe to use?

I am sick of biting my nails and feeling frumpy. I am starting to hate other women lol cos they are so pretty with long hair and nice bodies. I want to do my nails tonight and also to dye my hair. I just don't want chemical overload and to harm baby. She is fully developed now so would things like that still cause defects/harm?

I am going to go for the Loreal Castings semi permanent one so hopefully that will be ok. Just need to clarify re; the nail glue..

I think it would be fine. The only danger I can imagine is your feeling light-headed from exposure to fumes, but I don't believe that would hurt your baby. Just make sure the salon is well-ventilated. It's important to feel pretty when pregnant!

I've had my nails and hair done the whole way through. If you're worried, what about gel nails?

from how i have read it am i right in thinking you are doing your nails yourself? if so the glue is fine as long as you do it in a well ventalated room and i have been using castings hair dye (permenant) all the way through after MW told me it was safe again just as long as room is ventalated well x

I'm sure you will be fine. I just did a mani the other day and have a few within my pregnancy.

I say go for it, people have their nails done while in labor :S... However, if the one doing your nails wears a mask to keep particles what not out of their nose, ask for one yourself. IF she doesnt give you one, leave.

Besides that, go make ur self pretty and feel goooood!

I wouldn't bother with it, especially not the acrylic nails.

My reason is not because it is dangerous, I'm sure it's perfectly safe. But if you go into labour and you have to have a c-section, you have to remove nail polish as far as I am aware. If you also have a load of glue or gel on your nails, that could cause a problem. And it would spoil your nice manicure! Since one in five births is a csection that's why I'd give it a miss.

However, you've got a few weeks more to go than me so if you have it done soon you'll likely get your money's worth. And if it's only a home nail job then there aren't a lot of chemicals or fumes in it. It's hardly an industrial level of exposure!

Remember, if a home beauty product was dangerous to unborn babies you would not be able to buy it just like that off the shelves of Superdrug.

It won't do any harm to the baby - but you might end up regretting it. The glue does severely damage your nails. I would only advise it if you intend on keeping up with them LONG TERM. Because if you decide it isn't worth the cost or time to do them your nails will look 100x worse than they do now until they are completely grown out which takes time.

I'd opt for a pedicure instead. That way you can focus on your pretty toes while pushing :)

I am a qualified nail techinican and there is no harm from having your nails done at home or at salon so long as the window is open. Technicians wears masks as they are around the stuff day in day out, the customer is not, so dont go by that.

I currently have false nails on, when i was in the labour ward in early labour they did not care, in fact they all mentioned how nice they looked.

I know lots of ladies that had false nails on in c-sections. They can check your toenails if need be for colouration.

I hope this helps xx

Thanks everyone!

The ones I get are from the supermarket and usually last a week if I am lucky lol, just feels nice to pamper myself. I am just feeling insecure at the moment and want to make myself feel nice so I am going to get rid of all body hair  colour my hair red, do my nails, have a good moisturise and a face mask! Going to buy some new make up too, hopefully I will feel good and not too guilty about baby!

yeah the glue is fine :)

ive dyed my hair, used nail glue and ALOT of nail polish through my pregnancy. (since my nails grow really fast during pregnancy i cant help buying new nail polish every week and painting then :haha: ) ive used the nail glue you want to use and also the one they use in the shops too and my baby is fine :)

xx
