i havnt experienced one myself but heard of them being discoloured eg: grey in the line and after time limit when i wasnt preg one came up light grey in the pos line bit but knew it was wrong..

good tests for accurate results are first response.

I think most people get false negatives when they test too early, and there's not enough hormones in their blood to trigger a positive. Don't have experience with this myself (all my BFNs have been the real thing, haha), but I've seen a lot of comments like this in the forums-- testing one day, getting a negative, testing a couple days (or sometimes even a couple of weeks) later and getting that BFP.
