Favourite accent

I can't say I've ever been a fan of any accents, can't think of any that I enjoy hearing! People here seem to LOVE my accent though, seriously anywhere I go I get stopped and asked about my accent, people grinning at me from ear to ear like I'm really special. It happens at least 3 times a day. It's pretty funny!

i live in the north east but wouldn't say i had a proper geordie accent

i love scouse accents!

I love American accents. I'm in Essex and cringe at the Essex and Cockney accents we hear around here.

My favourite accent is the Petyr Baelish accent. ;)

i also find it fascinating how within a country there can be so many accents that are recognized, but other countries kind of lump them all together, lol. There are many within America, but I think we get lumped into American, Southern American.

British apparently has many, as posted here, but they all just sound the same to me. I just lump it all together as British. Same with some of the others, like Irish, Australian, etc.

I can recognise a few, like New Jersey, deep South and Midwest. I never understand what Americans mean when they make fun of the Canadian accent though. Like it sounds exactly the same!

It depends where they are from in Canada. Some of the regions that are close to the US sound just like us, but other regions further north definitely sounds a lot different. I have some friends from Canada, and sometimes its not even the accent we make fun of, just the words they use all the time. Like they say "eh" a LOT. My one friend has stopped doing it, but it took him a concerted effort to stop saying it after every sentence, as it was just so common for him to say it.

I'm from Alberta originally and people from other parts of Canada definitely pick up on it though it's subtle. Newfoundlanders have a VERY distinct accent!

I also say "eh" a lot. :haha: It gets pegged as a Canadianism but I think it's more of a Western Canada thing.

Newfoundland accent is really weird! I have friends there, the way they pronounce the 'ou' is especially strange!
When my friend speaks is sounds like around 5 different accents rolled into one!

I know, it's awesome. Their accents change from sounding Irish to sounding British to sounding Scottish to sounding Canadian based on the words/sentence. They kind of just always sound drunk to me. :haha:
