Hi everyone, just a rant and a bit of concern too

Im 11 weeks today, I just had a letter thro from my local hospice confirming my date for the scan- 31st March!!!

I rang them up and explained that i will be 15weeks when i have my 1st scan and asked for an earlier appointment. Apparently, as theres alot of pregnancies at this time, I was told having the 1st scan at 15weeks is the norm!? The lady said if i ring up next week and see if i can get a cancellation...this is not garanteed. I will just have to ring and see.

Im annoyed to the fact that as im midwife led, I have to wait that much longer, at the rate im going, I wont be able to keep my bump hidden much longer than i have to.

My concern is that If my 1st scan is not til 15weeks, when will my 2nd scan be?? surely all my scans will then be staggered cos of the wait, and then risking the fact of detecting things early with the baby?

I was contemplating on going to a private practice like Bupa or something and saw on website it costs around £100 for a bog standard scan.

Im ever so jelous of everyone having their scans at 12wks and even earlier :(

:hugs: I don't really know what to tell you other than I hope that they can get you in sooner.

:dohh:is there any chance of going to any other hospitals in the area?
how about cancelations (like driving tests!)

hope i don't have to wait that long!

How come you have to wait that long too for your one and one scan??

It sucks having to wait so so long.

Lee-Anne is in Canada - thats how they do it there. Rubbish aint it!

I'd try a different hospital maybe?

I've got a dating scan at 12 weeks and the first scan (where you hear baby's heartbeat etc) at 15 weeks..

Hope you do get in sooner, :hugs:

Yeah, it sucks, sucks, sucks! Lucky me....NO!

How will I ever make it to April 15th?:cry: Roll on to April....FAST!

As I mentioned in other threads, after that time I am going in for a private 4d scan....one in May and one in June or July.

That's the 'price' of free healthcare....

I can't believe they only do one. I was wondering why my Doc. never mentioned booking an U/S even thought it is like a 6-8 week wait.. I was hoping to get one soon.

Our private scans cost $130, and I think medicare rebate like $50 of it. But you need a docs referral for that. TBH, I don't know how many scans are given here...

Private 4D scans are $175 and then there is a package at $299 for two visits. For my birthday, I want the two visit package and told my hubby that :) He's just as bad to see the scan so I am sure I will get what I ask. ROFL

Wow, I want a 4d scan of my baby, my cousin had to have one so I think i'll ask how much. And it's so much more accurate to find out the gender! Do you know when you can get one?

I have heard that the best time is around 25 weeks as the baby has gained more fat and looks more like a baby :) This is what I've heard from posters on here who have experienced it.

However, the one I am going to does say anytime after 20 weeks :)

I believe Anne-Marie is getting hers done earlier. You might want to ask her.

Yes, you are correct.

But is it free? We pay a monthly premium for our healthcare. What's isn't free anymore. LOL

Good point - we pay 'national insurance' from our wages that covers healthcare.
