Hi guys not sure if this is in the right place but need a little advice and reassurance before I go mad!

Daughter is 13 weeks old, and feeds 2 hourly day and night. Was born 9lb13 and is currently 15lb7 but very tall too!!

Hv keeps saying to persevere but my hair is literally falling out as I'm physically shattered. She has bad reflux too and friends and family are advising to start her on baby rice once a day as it's meant to help with reflux etc

Hv says no solids until she's 6 months old and all they seem to care about is her gaining weight. Hv said to try formula but she refuses the bottle....

Anyone else in the same boat??

Hi hun

you are indeed in the right place. Unfortunately with reflux babies they do tend to feed frequently as it comforts them and acts like an antacid, usually though babies will outgrow this gradually as they get older. Although some specialists do prescribe baby rice for reflux; it is more common for them to prescribe certain medicines these days as the risks of early weaning will outweigh any benefits in most cases, also for some babies solids will make the reflux worse. Don't give solids before 17 weeks unless a specialist has advised it anyway. Trying formula is no guarantee that your baby will space out feeds anymore and for some reflux babies it can cause even more discomfort and exacerbate the problem. I was in a similar situation with my eldest and started solids at 4 months believing it would help, it didn't and certain solid foods made him even more sicky and very distressed, it also made him very constipated. Also because I bulldozed solids too rapidly he stopped breastfeeding completely and was not keen on formula, because it did make him uncomfortable-so I ended up having to sneak dairy products into his diet in other ways much of which he would sick back up again it was awful and I really wished I had just stuck to BF only for as long as possible xx
