Ok, well lo dropped a bottle in the night and was on 5 bottles a day (yay)
I record her bottles, and one day was:
8am 7oz
11.30am 7oz
3.40pm 9oz
6.30pm 9oz
10.40 8oz
= 40oz and slept through till 9am...

Now for some reason it's taking up to 8 bottles and sometimes only getting up to 37oz and for carton she should be on at least 40 ounces.

today so far:
7.30 am 8oz
11.20am 5oz
1.45pm 6 1/2oz
4.35pm 5oz
6.45pm 3oz
7.30pm 3oz
8.30pm 3oz

up to 33 1/2 oz and she's in bed, so will give her a feed at midnight of 6 and 1/2oz

I'm wasting formula, feel like i'm constantly steaming bottles.
This has been going on for a while - some days she's great but more and more often she's not wanting her milk at all like it's a game - and if I leave her to demand it she'll starve cos she's so laid back these days.

She's just shy of 4 months - is this a phase?!

the hv said there wern't any more growth spurts but she went from 25% height at birth, to 50% at 8 weeks to 75% at 16weeks,and her weight is now just under 75% - so she's gone from fat and short, to tall and thinner.

Is she crying for it?

You say if you demand feed she woundnt ask for it so if she is not crying for it could you not offer it every 4hrs. She will let you knew if she is hungery some days they arnt as hungry as outhers like us some days we dnt want much food but outhers we will want alot babys are the same

Little devils arn't they, just as you think you know what to do for them, they change! :haha::haha:

Reuben is exactly the same at the moment, and has been for around 4 weeks.

He used to drink 8 oz, every 4 hours, for 4 feeds, then 5 oz for a dream feed, so total of 37oz. Now, i am lucky to get 5 oz in him per feed!

He has followed the 50th centile exactly since born for weight, and i took him last week, and all was ok. HV told me, that they know how much they want. she said that at the point he was taking 37oz, he was prob having a growth spurt, and has now settled on what he wants to take.

However, i am not convinced, he drinks the first 3oz in 3 minutes. It then takes me another 45 minutes of keeping trying him with his milk to try to get some more milk down him- its like he is not interest at all.

Like your LO, i do not wait for Reuben to demand his feeds, he would happily go 5 or 6 hours between feeds, and i would never get it all in him if that was the case!

We are only 3 or 4 weeks from weaning, but i am not sure now whether he needs weaning now - and try to get him to drink milk via cereals etc. However, a big part of me worries that if we wean now, he will be come even less interested in his milk!

So, sorry i have no answers, but i will watch this to see if anyone has any similar experiences and what they have done

:hugs: cos i know its frustrating!

Molly has never demanded a feed in her life! She would go all day without food/milk if I left her to it! I know she is hungry cos she wolfs it down. She did go through a stage though from about 4 months until she was on 3 meals a day when she would hardly drink any milk at all. She would only take 12oz a lot of the time, sometimes even less. I just couldnt get any more down her. If she is not demanding it I would leave it longer between feeds, and just let her drink what she will :hugs:
