I feel bad as my lunch just consisted of instant noodles and my breakfast was jam (jelly if you are from America) on toast and a cup of tea. I am drinking juice or lemonade as my drinks as i can't stomach water or milk. I snack on muesli bars or crackers.

I just feel bad as my poor baby needs nutrients. I am taking a prenatal but i still feel guilty. Is anyone else in this situation? My sickness was never this bad with my DS

Today had been HORRIBLE for me too. I'm sick with allergies or a cold and of course morning sickness is getting way worse...Almost threw up this morning. I thinl you're fine, but please do try to force some food if possible, you'll feel nauseous, but it's worth it for your bean. :]

no... i dont feel bad.im suffering horribly with sickness and im eating what i can as well as taking a vitamin...i figure im doing my best and thats all that can be expected.

Thanks, i do usually manage some food at tea time as i dont usually feel as bad. I can usually stomach some form of vegetable at night too which makes me feel slightly less guilty. As for fruit i like grapes so i may go get some today and the juice should give me some nutrients. I just don't know how i will get my calcium cause the thought of dairy is bleh right now, which is strange because i was in love with dairy especially cheese in the 1st week of my pregnancy

I went through that for weeks :( it is scary and I always feel so guilty but I just can't eat a lot of things I will throw up then I am worse off than before.

I sometimes crave noodles... But I make sure I eat something healthy along with it

I will try to limit my instant noodles but they seem to be the food that has made me feel the best so far. My first time eating them in this pregnancy was today. What are some other lunch ideas that don't make you girls as sick?

from week 6-9 my OH was getting worried because I could tolerate little to no food. I never actually threw up but I had 0 appetite and when I could muster up eating something it was instant raemen noodles. I took my prenatal the whole time though and the OB assured me it was ok. Now from week 10 on I've been able to incorporate some " normal" foods again. But I still cant eat red meat or any pork.

If its instant noodles like the instant (3 minute) ramen noodles, then I totally understand. I've been eating a lot of those lately too, mostly because I can keep them down. I'd say as long as you're taking a prenatal vitamin, and at least trying to eat other things as well, its ok. I read that in the first trimester baby doesn't actually get as much food from us as we think, mostly because they are so tiny yet. Once you hit the second tri or later nutrition will become super important.

i had food poisoning and literally couldnt keep any food down for over 3 days and my doc wasnt worried, she said as long as i had fluids it was ok...try not to beat yourself hun :) i know its easy done but you are getting lots of good stuff there :)

Just take a Calcium supplement that doesn't come from oyster shell or bone. I am taking one, though I do get some dairy.

That's all I ate with #1 at the MS stage.

Between you and me, we both have 1 year olds, just be proud of getting down SOMETHING, it takes a trooper to care for a 1 year old and go through this stage! Give yourself some credit! :)

Here's what I do:
Keep a batch of kale or plain broccoli in the fridge
When the noodles are done, throw an egg in it and let it cook/boil (this is what they do in Japan). Then toss 2 cups of broccoli or kale in it.

Voila... crap ramen noodles have protein and tons of healthy greens. I have this for lunch every day :)

Okay now!!! LOL!! Jam and Jelly are not the same thing in the US. LOL!! We have jam too, that is NOT jelly!! LOL! I do love both! So my question is, is your jam really jelly or jam??:haha:

I've always been told (and read) that it's ok if you don't eat that healthily at the beginning. Most women lose weight simply due to lack of appetite or the inability to eat anything. That's me. I'm not gaining anything, losing a little at a time, unable to eat most anything. The baby takes what it needs from you right now so the baby isn't suffering as much as you will. I've been told to just eat whatever you can stomach because something is better than nothing & try to take your vitamins to offset the not-so-great food options.

This is exactly what I have heard. Don't fret so much about it. As long as you are keeping some food down, whether its instant noodles or toast and jam, you should be fine, and baby should be too!

Lol i'm confused now. But it is made the stuff you spread on your toast out of a jar or put in a pb and j sandwich. What is jam in America?

Thanks for the tip on how to make the noodles healthier. Will definately try that next time

I am slowly losing weight too. So different from my last pregnancy where i gained too much weight. That is good to hear that food choices aren't so important in the 1st tri, so i will try not to feel so bad now

I'm going to try to get this straight, as I often confuse the two. In America Jelly is basically smoothe, there's no fruit in it. Jam, while it serves the same purpose, has chunks of fruit in it. Both are great on pb + j sandwiches though. :)

My midwife told me this. She basically said baby needs very few nutrients (except folic acid is very important) in the first trimester so "eat what you can and don't feel guilty about it".
I do take a prenatal supplement with a large amount of folic acid in that, and other than that I just try to eat what I can stomach...generally toast, cold cereal, pasta, soup, granola bars, apples, green grapes and crackers.
