Feel like a failure!! Please help! :(

ladies thankyou so much for all your replies! i feel loads better now. had a nice walk on the beach with layla to clear my head and now have her nicely on the boobie. think i just went over everything too much in my head and worried myself unnecessarily. i wish i hadnt given her the formula but all in all she only had about 10oz and the rest boob over the past 3 days, so hopefully i wont have reduced my supply. i have 30z of breast milk pumped ready for her tonight before bed, so hopefully we can get back into that routine. its just been so hard as she's poorly with wind and i sooooo want her to have a good poo, but i know its normal to go awhile without it. she has plenty of wet nappies so i know she's ok. i think i will take your advice and spend the next week just focusing on feeding her and get plenty of snacks and resign myself to daytime tv!

you ladies are the best! sorry about the crap punctuation... one handed typing!! :D

Glad you are feeling more positive!

pleased to hear that you are feeling better about things :)

Glad to hear things are going better. The first 6 weeks or so are the hardest, but it does get easier. It took about 10 weeks for me to feel like it got easier, but I made it through, and it was worth it all.
You are doing a great job mama!

thanks again ladies! layla just had a nice 2 hour nap so we're back on boobie now! :) lets fatten this little rascal up!

hey - you're no failure!!

I also gave my LO a bottle before bed for a while when he was little little and it did help!

We went back to 100% boobie a while later as I wanted to, and now he refuses the bottle.

Do what you've got to do to make you BOTH happy.:hugs:

I second all the advice about puttingbaby to the boob as often as possible etc but would like to say that when we were having real tough days there were times when Oscar would have 3 bottles a day to give my nipples a break! I didnt find my milk dried up and I am thankful for that break as I honestly think I would have given up without it.

See if you have a le leche group in your area, mine really helped.

Chin up hun, whatever you decide will be best for the both of you

So glad your feelin better hun xxx You are doin amazingly, it is so so hard those first few weeks.

You are sooo not a failure, BF is sooooo hard nobody tells you that before you try. Most BF babies lose weight to start with so really the fact that your LO is back at her weight shouldnt be that bad. She hasnt gone down in weight and lots of babies do that and they're totally healthy. I also agree Tabs was screaming for feeds like every hour at about 5 weeks old, but was just that she was in a growth spurt, your milks not established for quite a while so its really annoying for your baby. You have to remember that this is the natural way, your body knows how much to make for your baby :hugs:
I also would say keep away from orange juice that also (might) be bad for colic... just eating and drinking enough.
However if you really cannot deal with it, you shouldnt feel guilty about giving some formula to her. You do what YOU think is right for your baby dont do what other people think. If you're determined to BF and really want to then get a BF specialist and go to websites where there is tooonnnsss of advice :hugs: You're doing amazing dont worry :)

Oooh just read it...really should read through these things more often
Glad everything is going better now :yipee: Well done
:hugs:

Glad you are feeling more positive. x
I could only echo what others have said. Most highly can i recommend a big flask of tea, a pack of mini marsbars and telly remote/laptop within arms reach. Do LO use a dummy at all? If so i'd do the old switchroo and comfort suck on you for a bit instead.

No she wont take a dummy. Todays been good, although I gave her a bottle earlier. I spoke to my GP who said dont give formula but stick with the boob and give her water afterwards too. I just feel soo awful for her, poor thing. Just needs a big poo! Have had her on the boobs al day pretty much so fingers crossed we'll get somewhere!
