Feeling relieved!

I'm feeling pretty relieved right now as after a day of examinations and tests at the hospital I have been cleared of having suspected deep vein thrombosis. I apparently just have superficial thrombophlebitis (superficial vein inflammation) which should hopefully clear up on its own. I was a little concerned as apparently DVT is one of the leading causes of maternal death! So pleased I decided to get it checked out though and not wait for my next appointment. The hospital dealt with it very quickly and thoroughly!

DVT is a blood clot in a large vein. It's the thing they like people to wear flight stockings to prevent when traveling long haul! The clot can sometimes become detached and travel to the lungs, which can be fatal. What I have is just inflamed smaller surface veins, which is painful, but nowhere near as dangerous, hence the relief!
