I'm feeding him almost every hour! He eats for about half hour sometimes a little longer. Then I burp him, and lay him down (cause he always falls asleep when he's eating). He wakes up and is hungry again! My mom suggested I give him bottles so I know for sure he's getting enough. I think maybe he's a slow eater? I dont know if that's it or not. I'm so confused and kinda frustrated cause I'm really not getting any sleep at all.
My mom suggested I start to pump and only bottle feed him but I dont want to stop BFing. Sounds cheesy but I like that bond I have with my little boy. It's something only I can give him. I don't want to give that up!

How old is he? I take it he's only been born this month from the June Bugs blinkie!

You are still learning. It's very normal to feed ever hour at start with - especially in the evenings. Your mum is wrong to suggest pumping at this stage - you should try to avoid it until BFing is esablished which is around 6 weeks. He's still learning the most effective way of getting the milk out. Give him chance! At first he might take an hour or more! In time he might only take 10 or 20 mins.

The way to tell what he is getting is by his nappies - are they wet? Does he poo? Then he's getting enough.

I take it your mum didnt BF which is why she's so keen to know amounts.

It doesnt sound cheesy - it sounds exactly right!! He is YOUR baby not your mums. I;m sure she's well meaning but this is your special time and you need to tell her that you want to do it your way. :hugs:

scott is two weeks old and does his espcially in the evenings and for a period of 3 hours during the night,

He's almost 5 weeks. I had him a few days early in May :)
my mom did breastfeed but I think she has a lot of old school thinking going on. Like she thinks I need to eater "richer" foods to make my milk richer. That kind of thing.
And the diaper thing. He has no shortage of wet and poopy diapers. That's for sure. Just today I think he pooped 6 or 7 times and the nights not over!

sounds like he's doing well. My MIL BF but she was forever trying to get me to give water and saying I was OVER feeding. She was a bit old school too - 10 mins either side then put them down for 4 hours to scream.....:dohh:

You could be approaching a growth spurt too hun - they get one around 6 weeks. :)

New babies do feed all the time. That is just the way it goes. Factor in growth, and energy needed to make the body run, and 'working' for their food, babies need lots of it! As frustrating as this stage is, it does go by, faster then you think it will. Soon you will have a toddler running around and you will actually find yourself missing those long days 'stuck' on the sofa. I know I do.... off to chase my child. :)

My son is Scott too...except he is 8 now lol

Ok, newborn babies need to nurse whenever they want too and adding a bottle could have many adverse affects on your breastfeeding relationship including complete weaning :-(

Your Scott could be just a slow drinker OR it could be that he is on the breast a long time but not actually getting anything. I cannot post links here yet as I am new member and it won't let me but if you search Dr Jack Newman on google and go to his website and the breastfeeding help section you will find excellent advice on Breastfeeding. Including videos a how to tell if your babys is drinking or just sucking!! A baby can be on the breast for 5 minutes and with good drinking be satisfied for a few hours but a baby who is sucking but not drinking can be on teh breast 24/7 and will never be satisfied!!

 I feel like im feeding mine every 10 mins lol ... but he is only 2 weeks bless him.
I think with the warm weather then need the fore milk more for drinks etc and .. well really at this age BFing on Demand is just that .. on demand, try to relax and just hang on in there, as time goes on he will settle in to more of a routine xxxx

Well today seemed to be opposite. He's wanted to eat all day! I only fed him once overnight. Hopefully he will only wake up once tonight again so I can sleep like a regular person!!
