FET or another cycle with PGD?

Hi ladies,
I am joining this forum after years of just reading your posts and looking for answers. I am hoping you, wise ladies, can help me decide what to do next: I am turning 40 in January and want to decide as soon as possible whether to go and have a transfer (FET) of two genetically unchecked embryos (5 and 6 day blasts) or whether to leave them frozen for now and try another cycle with genetic screening. A quick summary: I got pregnant in Feb after a FET but miscarried at 12 week (one 6 day blastocyst remains frozen from that cycle) , tried another cycle with PGD this time, to curb the likelihood of another heartbreaking miscarriage and a D&C. (the D&C didn’t remove everything and I had to return to hospital for hysteroscopy, and it all took at least four months to get my system back to normal) I learnt about the usefulness of Ubiquinol for egg quality but unfortunately only on the day I started stimming for the second IVF. I took 400 mg daily till egg collection. Ended up with four 5-day blastocysts (same result as previous cycle about 10 months earlier). However, the PGD returned three of them abnormal. The fourth one wasn’t checked for some technical reason, the sample they took contained no genes or something. They froze the unchecked one. My plan is: leave the two genetically unchecked frozen blasts (one from each cycle) alone for now and undergo another PGD cycle after 3 months on Uniquinol to improve the eggs - already on my second month. But doctors that I speak with (both from the clinic and one from another clinic who is a friend of a friend) are telling me to have the two frozen embies transferred before going for another IVF. What do you think?? By doing another cycle including PGD I hope to minimise the risk of another miscarriage, which would render me unable to TTC for another half a year and at my age, I don’t have much time to mess around, do I. Maybe I am too pessimistic and shouldn’t automatically expect a miscarriage. The truth is that if I did get pregnant and didn’t miscarriage, I wouldn’t have to bother with another cycle... But how likely is that!?

I don't really have any advice. I just know the urgency you are feeling. My sister did 3 cycles of icsi and is now pregnant from a FET cycle. I only know what worked for her. I understand your idea of doing another PGD cycle. Whatever you decide I wish you lots of luck and baby dust.:hugs:

I ran across your post today. I have been through 5 and a half years of TTC. I was always able to conceive naturally but my "advanced maternal age" created bad eggies that always ended up with genetically abnormal embryos. I either miscarried or had to have a d&c.

I chose to move to IVF with PGD b/c I could not do it again. I am 47 but I started TTC on 2010 at the age of 42. I just did my first FET - thawed 17 embies. Only one made it to blast was tested and miraculously was normal. My transfer of my 6 day hatching blast was yesterday and I am feeling blessed and hopeful.

I understand what you are going through. I understand moving to PGD. Do what makes sense for you. What feels right. I did back to back batching of embryos to get my 17. I would ask about batching and including your 2 in the testing with any new embryos. Not sure what stage they are at but mine were frozen at the 2pn stage and thawed and grown together.

Wishing you :dust::dust:
