We had our NT ultrasound yesterday at 12 weeks and I am happy to report that baby is developing wonderfully.
However, at our doctors apt following the ultrasound my OBGYN mentioned that all my labs came back normal except for the thyroid antibody panel. I mentioned at my 9 week appointment that I have Hashimoto's and had been tested positive for the antibodies before and have be euthyroid with medication for the last year.
My doctor said that because of this, they want me to have a level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks and I will meet with a fetal specialist. I was surprised by this because I had this condition when I was pregnant with my first child and my doctor at the time never did anything. When I asked if that means I am high risk she said "Yes and no". And when I asked what they were looking for she said that my antibodies can attack the babies thyroid and cause issues.
All of this was new to me and I haven't been able to find a lot on the internet. I know lots of people have thyroid issues. Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I be concerned?
Thanks!
