FF Mums - who does the night shift - you or OH?

From day one it was pretty much always the case that DH and I would get up together. If one or the other of us was feeling decidedly grotty, then whoever felt better would, but in general, both of us were up. Even when I was BF'ing initially, DH would get up, change LO, give her to me to feed, and then give her a cuddle and put her back down.

Even now, when LO has been having an unsettled time with teething, DH will take his turn or get up with me in the night if we need to go to her

I was lucky - DH and I took turns on night feeds. LO was in his own room from quite early (else no-one slept) so we kept the angelcare on all night for peace of mind. Whoever was due to get up had the monitor on their side of the bed, and once they'd got up they swapped it to the other side, so if we heard him stirring we knew whos turn it was. As I generally woke easier than DH I just gave him a bit of a kick if it was his go!

We didn't do too badly - a few weeks of twice a night, then a few of once, and by about 9-10 weeks he started sleeping through, and it was just dummy runs.

I promise, it will get better before you know it, but in the meantime I think it's reasonable to expect your OH to take a turn a bit more often than he is now.

When Evie was waking in the night, OH used to do the nightshift as he's a bit of a night owl anyways, so it gave me time to have a good kip, then I'd take over from 6am so he could go to bed
I'm lucky in the respect that my OH doesnt work so it worked well for us.
