Hi

I breastfed my little one for the first few weeks, but she was unsettled and always wanting fed so I changed to FF and she is much happier. We plan on TTC when LO is 1,but I am undecided whether I would breastfeed if we have another baby due to the demands, so my question is do FF newborns feed constantly at times like BF babies do or is there more of a routine?

I have posted in the breastfeeding section to see how ladies cope breastfeeding with a toddler to look after too. It's such a hard decision to make so looking for advice from you lovely ladies that FF their babies from the start :flower:

I think it's a question of every baby being different. My LO was mixed fed then fully FF from about 7 weeks ish. For the first month or so he fed fairy often, there wasn't too much routine but he never cluster fed in the evening or seemed to feed more at one point of the day. After a month or so, I just fed him every 3 hours or so - he never cluster fed. However, he also never went through any noticeable growth spurts or had a 4 month sleep regression so that's what I mean about every baby being different, as I know many FF babies do. With FF there's no need for baby to build your supply by cluster feeding but you might find even if they don't cluster feed they may want to fed a lot more during growth spurts.
If I were you I'd try Bf'ing your new baby (only if you decide you want to of course) and see how often they fed. If you find it too much then you can then FF. Good luck! :hugs:

mine still fed as often, every 1.5 hours 1oz at a time til he was about 3 weeks old

The first week she was home Avery was so sleepy, I was told to wake her ever three hours to eat. She took about 1.5 oz then. Once she started waking up at 10 days, she started eating over 2 oz about every three hours. She's now three weeks and eats 4 oz every three to four hours without me waking her. Unfortunately it's more like 3 hours than 4 usually. She's a hungry girl.

Newborns always feed alot to begin with, thats how they increase ur milk supply. My baby feeds every 3-4 hours now at 3 months and sleeps 10-11 hrs through the night without waking for a breastfeed x
