Not sure if this belongs here but it is money related so I guess it should fit
OH works on a 30 hours a week contract and I work on a 8 hour contract except now I'm on holiday before maternity leave starts next month. We scrape between us about 1200 after tax which is topped up with tax credits or was until I got a letter saying they had overpaid us by about 500 quid and our payments were stopping until we get our new claim form in April yes we did earn more than 2500 extra last year because I didn't have any deductions due to smp and OH had a fair amount of hours and overtime whereas now there is none due to redundancies in his work and he is only doing his 30 hours a week but I rang and informed them of this in October last year was told to ring them when we had our P60s which I did was told they couldn't do anything cause they were in the renewal period and to put it on my claim form I waited 3 months for my form which I sent off straightaway they were paying me based on the estimates while I waited for the form to arrive which led to the overpayment so now we are 450 pound worse off a month and to top it off OH keeps lending his parents money because they are struggling to pay the mortgage I try and try and try to tell him to stop throwing his money around but his words are its my money they had 7 pound in the bank you don't know what it's like your parents both work.

I'm sorry but I have no sympathy his mum has chosen not to work to be there to support his sister who is 36 weeks pregnant (she still lives at home and is getting IS) and his dad seems to just want to carry out all these stupid ideas to make money.

OH just doesn't get it what about our rent, our bills and petrol and car insurance we already have a 2 year old to feed and are about to have a newborn who will need things as well.

It's just stressing me right out and I don't know what to do.

:hugs: No wonder your stressed out, that's a big chunk of money to lose each month!! I can relate to money worries. My OH just lost his job so now I've been struggling to pay all the bills with just what I make until he gets his unemployment money. It's so stressful.

I understand why your OH wants to help his parents, I used to give my mom money all the time until I realized that wasn't really helping her learn how to manage her money. It wasn't until I totally stopped that she learned how to be responsible about spending. I hope your OH comes around. :hugs:

My basic is 211.50 a month which is what I have coming in this month as holiday pay that's not even half of the rent :/ I've always tried only to use the tax credits as a fall back but it's what I use for DDs clothes nappies wipes etc seeing as its money I get for having a child god knows how I'm going to support 2 kids on 33 quid a week CB

Get on to tax credits and tell them it has left you in financial hardship

I am paying back an overpayment just now but it's spread over this financial year and into the next, they are still giving me tax credits so why they have had to stop yours I don't know

Also let them know as soon as you go on mat leave as the change in circumstances may mean you are entitled to More

I've already told them that I'm going on mat leave its so frustrating that there's nothing I can do until LO is born he needs clothes and milk and nappies that I cant afford to buy him OH is having his hours reduced due to his company being took over I just dunno what we're supposed to do :( it says on my letter that they are reducing my payments due to overpayment so the amount left to pay is 0.00 I knew we weren't entitled to WTC an told them so several times now I have to suffer because they have a crappy system and don't listen when you inform them of changes
