Just waiting to hear back from the hospital as to whether the consultant wants him back in urgently ie this afternoon or whether they are happy to wait until he is back at the hospital anyway on Tuesday morning. They are on about putting him back on a feeding tube and continuously feeding him to try and get his weight up (he's 6lb 9oz at 14.5 weeks old).

I had a lovely morning with Findlay today and was going to take him to the beach for the first time this afternoon and a day out shopping tomorrow and suddenly everything has come crashing back down again.

I wish my OH was here but he's away working offshore in Norway and won't be back until middle/end of next week :(

Sorry for the moan just needed to get it off my chest.

They've just called back and he's got to be in before 4pm so I've just got time to sort the cats out, pack for Findlay, try and grab something to eat if I can and then drive 45mins to the hospital. We are likely to be in for several days but I'll be popping home each day so will try and update if there is any news.

aww bless you both. I hope Findlay is ok, he will be in the best place, and they will take super care of him. Will be thinking of you both, all the best :hugs: xxx

Im sorry to hear your little boy was readmitted :( My daughter was also kept in NICU when she was born for a while....I remember hearing one of the nurses saying she might be a failure to thrive, those words broke me and I have never forgotten them.
She was always tiny, in size 3-6 months at 12 months of age!! But it turned out that she just hated milk. At 4 months old she would have 1 - 2 ozs every 8 hours and that was it, it was awful. I was so worried, calling NHS direct crying. It was such a hard few months to get through.
So with the advise of the health visitor we weaned her at 4 months, she has never drunk milk again from that day and she LOVES her food now. Eats lots of different foods, she's still petite but you would never know she was such a small baby now.
Just sharing this so you know your not alone. I dont know your story but the hospitals are great and it's good they are keeping such a close eye on your little boy.
Hope he comes home very soon xxx

aww hope he is doing ok, keep us posted when you get the chance. Fingers crossed he's home real soon, take care x x x x:hugs:

UPDATE:

Findlay is still on continuous feeds via his pump as he can't even tolerate 40ml of milk without vomiting the whole lot back up again :'(

He saw the gastro specialist this afternoon who is suggesting a barium meal xray to check his tubes in his stomach all work/connected ok, an endoscopy to check his stomach, a special tube to feed him with that bypasses his stomach and puts the feed direct into his bowel and an MRI scan to check he doesn't have any damage caused by the hypothermia he had a while back as he is still having temperature issues and apparently the part of the brain that controls temperature is very close to the part of the brain that controls sickness.

They have put him on to formula milk in his pump this afternoon and it is special cows milk free milk which is extensively hydrolysed to it is already broken down into amino acids so their hope is he might find that a bit easier to absorb than my milk.

We've been told to make ourselves comfy as he will be in for a prolonged period so we are hoping that's just weeks not months.

GP has told me I have to come home at nights to try and sleep as there is nothing I can do at the hospital. Having been useless when I spoke to him last he is now referring me to speak to someone after I broke down in tears in a packed waiting room yesterday. He's said in the meantime to book a double appt with him each week to let off steam. I feel awful leaving Findlay each night but I know he doesn't do anything other than sleep all night so he hardly notices I'm not there.
