hi ladies :hi:

some of you might have read my posts few weeks ago, had anatural m/c at approx 6 weeks last month:cry: but hospital referred us staight away to recurrent miscarriage clinic!
well, first appointment yesterday went very well, loads of blood tests done and booked in for internal scan in six weeks to check ovaries and tubes
I was surprised to be told NOT to take aspirin! Doc believes it reduces ovulation and should ONLY be started when you get your first bfp!

he also increased my folic acid to 5mg per day instead of 400ug per day so fingers crossed!

the main thing i came away with was his and the other staff at the centres encouragement, even though i'm 40 in four weeks and OH is 48 they really empathised with us wanting a child together and age was barely mentioned:happydance:

so ladies if you havent been referred, push your GP....now....TODAY!!

:hugs:

Its great when you get positive re-enforcemnt, isn't it. When i had my testing done last year the pre-conception nurse (who's now retired and was an OBE for her services in her field) said something quite sweet ' ok, so you wont have 10 children but i am pretty sure you will at least have one!' (i was 39 last year).

Im not taking aspirin now either but will when pg though.

All the best and good luck!

Omi xxx

I was really surprised how lovely they all were too:thumbup:

and even more surprised about being told not to take aspirin x

That's wonderful. The first Re I saw was all doom and gloom because of my age (38) and FSH and the new clinic is totally supportive and doesn't see a problem with either.
I can't believe the difference in clinic attitudes.

I'm so happy that you got a good, supportive clinic. :wohoo:

We went to see our GP yesterday and he is also referring us to a FS even though we have only really been trying for 3 months now! DH is going for a SA tomorrow and I need to have blood drawn next week, so we will see how it goes, i really pray that there are no major issues!

Hey I am sorry for your recent loss but so happy that you have found a great team of doctors to help you. The doctor you get makes all the difference.

I live abroad and starting the whole process of fertility testing was quite daunting for me as things are different here and I didn't have my family or real close friends around me. The first hospital I went to sucked even though they are supposed to be the best on the island. They made me feel old and inadequate so after a few of my tests were done I found a very small clinic in a not so nice apartment building but the doctors are amazing and their reputation speaks for itself. They fill me with confidence that they know what they are doing and that my age is not a problem. The difference is when I see them I come away feeling like my BFP will happen , with the previous doc I always can home crying and feeling like I would never get there.

I really advocate pushing to see a specialist as soon as you can and if you are not happy with the first one you see ask for a different doctor as it is so important that you feel comfortable with your doctor.

Pinktrifle I hope all goes well with the internal scan and your TTC journey will be a short one :hugs:

I've found that the right attitude from the drs can make all the difference in my attitude. I'm so glad yours was positive and encouraging! And Omi, I really like that nurse's comment!

TaNasha, hoi! :hi: I grew up in NL! My Dutch is pretty rusty now, though - I haven't had much opportunity to use it since moving back to the States. But I have always felt like NL is as much my home as the US is... I miss muisjes and and vla and uitsmijters and nasi, and I get strange looks when I ride my omafiets around town here!

(Sorry for hijacking the thread, ladies!)

Hoi HappyAuntie!

How funny that you grew up in NL! Whereabouts?

in Terneuzen, in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. My dad was transferred there for his job when I was little, and I lived there until coming back here for college. I just recently made it back over there for the first visit in almost 20 years! It felt great to be home again!
