Booked an appointment at the doctor's today - I was told you should do this. When I got there, the doctor was really nice and everything and gave me some good advice. She said, for the first appointment, I really need to see the midwife. This was after me thrusting a hpt test at her and asking if I needed to do a blood test to check hcg levels - felt a bit of a gimp! She said that they take the hpt as proof of pregnancy and don't need to do a hcg test unless you are bleeding or have a problem.
I flooded her with questions: i.e. about taking B6, toxiplasmosis (we have cats), risks to the baby etc etc! I must have looked like the most paranoid mum to be ever!
So, new midwife appointment is in three weeks time - apparantely they take blood - aaagghh! I have never given blood before and am a bit scared! Does it hurt? Oh well, I suppose that is nothing compared to what we have to look forward to during labour!
