Hello Ladies,
This is my first site, i have been trying to conceive for a year and a half. Husband has low sperm count. I have my first appointment with OBGYN this week for "fertility problems". I have already had bllod work and ultrasound and husband has already had SA (low count). Im just wondering if any of you can share you experiences. What should i expect at this first appt. since i have already had blood work and other tests and we know hubby has low count, will they go ahead and start a "plan of action" or are they going to do the whole "try for 3 more months w this chart, etc"? I already have a Ovacue monitor and have been using it for awhile. And since i know hubby has low count (only 7mil) that is prob the reason i havent fallen pregnant. i want to start treatment asap. So any advice on what will happen? Anyones hubby have low sperm count and can tell me what treatments or routes im going to be looking at?

Thanks!!!

Hi Hopeful :flower:

In my first appointment, the obgyn wanted to make sure there was no blockage in my tube. At first I thought she would ask me to take HSG, but it turned out that she wanted me to go straight to hydrotubation. I thought it was odd, because I thought one should only undergo hydrotubation when it was confirmed that one has a blocked tube (or tubes). I took the procedure anyways, because I read in the net that hydrotubation has therapeutical effects even if you don't have any blockage.

As for my DH: after the SA which turned out not quite good (low motility), the andrologist did a physical check. The doc found that DH had varicocele. He was given 2 options: surgery or medication. I read that sometimes the male partner will undergo USG to find whether or not he has varicocele, but my DH's is very obvious so the doc can see the dilated vein without USG.

Sending you hugs

Hi Hopeful

My husband has sperm issues also, his is the shape only 6%. I had all my tests done at my lady doc (hsg, pelvis ultrasound, blood day 3 & 21, pap) and my husband had been sent for a SA by my family doc, then he went to a Urologist and had two more SA done and a physical, he referred us to another Urologist (but I m cancelling that one). Any way we had our first FS appointment last week, because I had already had everything he didnt check me, he asked alot of questions (medical history, sexual function questions) he gave my husband a physical and drew blood, he has to go for a testecular ultrasound, another SA but one for the strict kruger and he wants me to get a baseline ultrasound at the start of my next period. Oh and we stared my husband on a ton of vitamins :)

We have been ttc for 16 months, my dh has low sperm count and low motility, we had all the blood tests done and a sa before our first appointment at fertility clinic, they did a scan on me and took more blood, but they said as his sa was low there was nothing they could do for us, my dh had to go for another sa but that took 7 weeks for the appt and that was over a week ago and we r waiting for the results (just to see if anything has changed as he has been taking supplements to help) but apparently it takes a month to get the results, then 3 months for our review appt and the doc says that they will put us on the waiting list for ivf which is a year waiting list, it is just a nightmare all this waiting, they want us not to stress but when they make us wait so much there is not much you can do other than stress!!! anyone else in the same position ?

I know this thread is rather old, but do you ladies have any updates?

I'm in the same position, DH has low everything and I'm said to ovulate just fine. First appt. with the RE is Nov. 14th and I would like to know what to expect. :)
