Leo is about a month away from being able to eat. That will be fun :). With my first, we didn't do traditional weaning or baby led weaning. We just used non-pureed foods and helped feed them to her when she didn't have the motor skills to bring them to her mouth. We also didn't wait until she could sit independently (which would be a part of baby-led weaning). Anyway, so I'm thinking about what to feed Leo when he can eat. Violet's first food was salmon and I'm thinking of using that as Leo's first food too. It's sad that Leo won't be eating until the end of summer whereas Violet was able to eat from the very beginning. That let her try all kinds of delicious fruits whereas Leo will have to wait longer. When he can start eating, I'm thinking we should also get our hands on some liver. That stuff is REALLY good for babies. He'll also be able to eat for his first Thanksgiving and his first Christmas. Anyone else thinking ahead to when their baby will soon be able to eat?

I'm looking forward to DDs first Christmas as she'll be 8 months then so at a really fun age for food. I did BLW with my DS and will do it again with DD. DS's first food was broccoli and carrots. We're raising our kids vegetarian so it'll be lots of peanut butter on toast, baked beans on toast and lots of veggies.

I think Lucas is a similar age to Leo and I can't wait to start giving him food, I've actually sneaked a few bits in :haha: nothing major just a little bit of sweet potato when we were eating and ice made him some natural yoghurt and blueberry frozen yoghurt drops because he's just cut two teeth and is chewing like crazy!!

I am going to start my daughter off on avocado, which is popular in our household. Probably going to follow it with hummus and quinoa. We're pretty hipster-ish with our foods, lol.

I am planning on skipping baby cereal completely.

Ooo, avocado was a great baby food with Violet. We will definitely be getting some of that for Leo early on.

I'm now wondering about blueberries. They wouldn't make a good first food, but I don't remember when we started with them with Violet. I was wondering because we just went blueberry picking and put some in the freezer.

Oh no, I didn't know they wouldn't be a good first food, feeling bad now!! Why are they not a good first food?

I didn't put them in whole, I boiled them with a little water and used the juice to add to the natural yoghurt

That's fine. I meant whole blueberries.

I started with avocado but dd2 had a reaction  I hope she is not allergic because I love avocados and so does dd1. DD2 absolutely loves sweet potato. I think I will start mixing some quinoa with her veggies (Also raising vegetarian) Just a mention on frozen blueberries...they stained dd's clothes. Just a heads up!
