First IUI this month, what to expect?

Hey Ladies,

What should I expect from my first IUI? Does it hurt as much as the HSG? what about the injectibles, do they hurt? Do they make you emo? Does your pd after your IUI hurt worse? Thanks and God bless

I'm curious...I may have to go get one next month if this cycle didn't work. My doctor said that hubby would have to go in there an hour earlier and they clean and wash his sperm. And then I come in an hour later and its like getting a pap...using a speculum andthen they insert a catheter with his sperm in it close to my ovsries and then I lay there for 10 mins afterwards and then go home...that's what they told me...I got a trigger shot last cycle on cd14 and it was in the Butt. Lol I felt like a little kid. but they said it isn't bad. Worst part is the speculum... good luck Hun!

Yup it's much easier than an HSG for sure. It is just like a pap, it's very quick. You might have some very light cramping after. The only painful bit for me so far was she had to use another instrument to get my cervix more open. It was like a quick pinch. No biggie. I had no change inmy periods but some more spotting during the tww which I attribute to the IUI. So far I've only had an HCG trigger shot day before IUI. It's like a typical needle. Last time I had to give it to myself bc of how the timing worked out. I was a bit nervous but it was totally fine and didn't hurt at all. And there are almost no side effects to that one in my experience.

So yeah... IUI isn't too bad at all. Lot's of luck!!
