Hi everyone,

I am starting my first round of IUI with clomid this month and am a little worried about what to expect. Does the actual procedure hurt? Anyone have any sucess stories?

I am also starting my first IUI this month and would like to hear about everyone's different experiences! Good Luck Keepingfaith!!!

Hello ladies! I've had 3 IUI's are they are really not painful at all. They are kind of like a regular pap, only they take it a step further and they place a catheder in your cervix with the sperm, and that just causes a little bit of cramping and nothing more.

I hope the IUI's work for you! Good luck!!

The IUI itself is not bad... certainly less akward than the dye test (hysto-whatever-a-gram). Worst part for me is always the speculum being inserted and opened. Inserting the catheter is also slightly uncomfortable but not bad.

The whole thing takes less than 10 minutes from "feet up" to them leaving the "deposit." They then tip the table up a bit under my bum and make me lay there for 10 - 20 minutes. I usually spot afterwards. And the day after I can be a bit sore - hard to explain where --- deep inside sore. But it goes away.

Yesterday was my 4th IUI proceedure. I'm an old pro at it now. If you have any specific questions don't hesistate to ask! GOOD LUCK! (For all of us!!!)

Thanks so much for the information. I am hoping that this work and am willing to go through just about anything to make this work. Good luck to you too EMBY :)

Before I moved to IVF I had 8 IUI's. And they were never painful. And I have a shy cervix - so that means playing around with different speculums to find one so the cervix can be seen.

So don't worry about it - its quick and painless. Just weird.

I am going to be starting mine in the next 3 or 4 months has any of you had IUI with clomid? Do you know how many follicles you produced with the clomid? My DH has male factor infertility but he does have some swimmers so that was what was recommended to us. I am trying to be positive in hoping that it will work for us in the first few attemps but was told to max chances I should use clomid.

yes im going to be having iui with clomid and not sure what to expect really....maybe twins

I am getting ready to meetr with my FS on the 23rd to discuss IUI. I ovulate on my own but I have tried clomid for 3 months and I produced 6 follicles, 3 of which were big (over 23mm) So I am going to talk to the FS about continuing to take clomid during the IUI. Good luck girls! I hope this works for all of us!

Me to I just wish they would hurry and call me already! I ovulate on time as it is so I should be able to hopefully produce 3 good follicles on clomid... just my hopes though

I am scheduled for my first IUI early next week depending if my OPK's give me a positive reading. Any suggestions on when to start testing with OPKs?

Depends on your cycle length... I am a 33 day cycle with O normally on cd18 or 19 so I start opks on cd14 every month.
