Hi I've got my first ivf appointment in July. I think it's just to get blood test and things but I just don't no what to expect. Does anyone know what the approximate time scale from first appointment to treatment is ? Xxx

What country are you in? I'm in the United States. So after our first appointment we were able to start birth control with the next period and get started from there. Although we were ready to get started in January, I've had a few delays and still have not done a transfer. But it doesn't take everyone so long.

Hi I'm in Scotland. The ivf is founded by the nhs too so it might be a bit different. Thanks for ur reply.

Everything seems to take forever. Im waiting on our letter back from hospital after filling out the eligibility forms. So frustrating. I hope you get through quick

We began the process through the nhs, even though we needed to fund our treatment. We eventually went to private consultant it took so long. We had a discussion and one set of blood test the first time, and more sa and things after that. They often repeat tests your gp or consultant gyno has done already (trans vaginal scans/ hsg/ blood tests etc). It was around three months in between appointments which drove me crazy having been told there was no waiting list. I hope it'll be quicker for you.

I ended up having a laparoscopy and am currently ttc naturally and going straight to ivf if we don't conceive in the next 6 months x

I hope it doesn't take too long. I don't know if I should tell my work about it. I had to change my day off for my appointment, and although I gave my boss 3 months notice it was a nightmare. 2 other people had to change their day off to accommodate me.
If I'm having to keeping going back I will need to tell them. My hospital is 2 hours away from my work.
What do you plan on saying to your work?

I'm self employed and even then it was hard to know what to say to people. My clinic is 3 hours away and I had an appt every other day and things change all the time. I would plan for vacation if you can.

Thanks for your advice I will wait and see what gets said at my appointment. I have kept some holidays at work incase I need them .

Hi ive just had my first appointment this week in the UK nhs
After filling in all forms I had about a 2-3 month wait for that appointment but think things will be quicker now
I had that appointment 18th June, go back 3rd July for nurse consultantion to order meds and injection teach then I start ivf on nxt af which should be first week of august
When I start I call them on CD1 to let them know, then go in CD3 for baseline scan check all ok, then if ok start meds this day, go back CD8 for scan and start another med and from this day on scans will be every other day and in the mornings until egg collection, 36 hrs before egg collection go in for hcg trigger
I used to be manager where I work but stepped down to concentrate on ttc so my employer knows and current manager as I plan to take the 2 week's off after embryo transfer, I think you could be better off telling them due to the amount of scans and appointments needed as you might not have an exact date for these until short notice and it will be 1 less thing for you to worry about, my clinic is 2 hours away and includes a ferry so sometimes I have to take off the whole day depending in appointment time, though we have shfits so I'm Hoping to do an afternoon shift after am scans and work every weekend as I know I'll be free then
Good luck and keep is updated :)
