I have my first meeting with a fertililty gynae next week and I am quite anxious!!!:help:

I have PCOS confirmed but normal hormone levels (no sign of ovulation though) Im overweight - currently on Cambridge Diet to bring it down. I'm 23 as is my husband and he has low morphology but high sperm count.

I haven't been on the pill and we have been TTC for 2 years with nothing. I have fairly regular periods now every 40 days.

What should I expect at my first appointment? I dont have much faith in doctors given my gynae issues from the past 8 years (been through hell and back with them and still havent had a real diagnosis - seriously bad periods!!!)

What info should I bring with me? What questions will they have?

Any help would be gratefully recieved!!!

I feel lost Im 23 I never thought I'd struggle to concieve!

Oh and just another note my thyroid is seriously whacked out its at about 14!!! Im told it should be less than 2 but Im on 250mg of thyroxine and it isnt getting better!!!

So is the the fertility specialist at the hospital, clinic or a gynae consultant?

If its the initial consultation at the hospital they will mainly want a chat about ur history. Then she/he will perhaps send you for further tests like bloods, swabs etc. They then may discuss the options open to you which really depend on ur personal circumstances. When we went she gave us our options and we said, we want to go for IVF so she referred us. It was fairly straightforward and she always left the decisions up to us.

If its first app at fertility clinic they will again most likely want blood and to do some more specific tests such as internal scans etc to see what sort of protocol to put you on. So you will have a few trips back and forth for bloods, scans etc. It basically gets the ball rolling for the cycle. Ours was fairly quick, so u want IVF, OK we'll get u started in the meantiime book a blood test at the desk. That was basically it although she did explain the IVF in detail which was helpful. You'll be to-ing and fro-ing a lot and calling the clinic for results, to make the next appointments, etc for a while then once you have done all that you have the consent appointment to sign the forms for IVF. Thats the exciting bit!!!

As for a gynae appointment...Im not too sure really hun maybe someone else with PCOS or endo can shed some light on this for u. Either way things are moving for u and its exciting!!! Take care x x
