I am cycle day 13 today and decided to use an OPK for the first time. It was negative. My cycles are 29 days and I think I normally ovulate mid cycle. I was just wondering how long after ovulation would it take for the OPK to be negative? I'm hoping I havent already missed it. For example, If I ovulated yesterday or the day before, would the OPK be negative today?

Yes, the opk may be negative if you ovulated yesterday or the previous day. Opk's measure your LH levels and become positive when your LH is surging. An LH surge is an indication that ovulation will occur in the next 12-36 hours. If you surged one or two days ago and missed it on your opk's, it may still be worth it to BD because ovulation may have just occurred. Alternatively, you may not have ovulated yet, so perhaps you should continue to test with opk's for the next couple of days too just in case. Good luck :)

All you can do is keep testing. Was it stark white, or just a lighter line? I NEVER have had a true +OPK, so I have to back up with a digi, if I think it may be +. Today was my first EVER true +OPK and the digi gave me a smiley, usually after the +OPK, maybe 12 hours later I get a stark white negative. I tested at 1pm, but have not tested again today. I am currently trying to limit liquids and wait 3 hours to POAS and see if it is start white or what is going on. Are you temping? You could look at that too.

Thanks Sammy. My test had a line, it was probably two thirds as dark as the control line, Im hoping it will darken. I'll test again tonight and tomorrow to see if they get darker or if its gone to altogether white. I may look into temping next month if I dont get my BFP.
