five year old missing!!

I saw Kay burley tell two people after the police conference what had just been said, but does anyone know if she "walked round telling people she was likely dead" - and hold her godmum? Just read that on twitter & if it's true I just cannot believe that!

I feel for her family and friends and i feel for the town aswell.
Such a quiet, friendly beautiful place, thats been torn apart.
I absolutely admire everyone there for pulling together and keeping hopeful.
xx

Every time the scenery gets shown on the news I think it looks so beautiful and serene, how can something so awful happen there ( like bad things only happen in ugly places:dohh:)

My Nan and Grandad had a caravan there, i spent so many holidays there. When i heard where it had happened, i was godsmacked. It is honestly a beautiful place with lovely lovely people.

I live in a small village too but i wouldnt let my 5 yr old play out that late unattended but its a parents worse nightmare hope shes found soon

Did I read before that it's best to hold off charging him because if new evidence comes to light after he's charged that doesn't count? (it can't be that, I sound silly even writing it, can someone clarify?)

if he is sentanced and new evidence comes to light it means nothing because you cant do time for the same crime twice. Double Jeporady

I thought double jeopardy doesnt exist as such. Maybe redhead can clarify for us.

I think he has said something or they have found significant evidence to suggest that shes died :(

Has it been reported that they are just searching the river?

As far as i'm aware they are focusing on several areas.

Just heard this.... Apparently they've just corndened off an area near his cottage and have shovels

Not sure how true it is

Isn't that if he is charged and tried for it that applies? I mean, say they charge him tomorrow & new evidence is found Sunday. What happens then?

Cops arrested 46-year-old Mark Bridger on suspicion of abduction on Tuesday afternoon - but have now re-arrested him on suspicion of murder.

This afternoon they were granted an extra 24 hours to question Bridger.

Quoted from The Sun, do you think they have re-arrested him so that they get longer to hold him but on a different charge if that makes sense?

Re-arresting him does not affect custody timings.

So what happens if after 24 hours they are still no further? They just let him go?

As far I know the law has been changed so it no double jeopardy no longer exists.I think there was quite a high profile case surrounding this.

No. They either charge him, release on bail or release with no charge. Honestly, I think they WILL charge him, but are wanting to keep questioning him and getting as much info as they camout of him before they do. Firstly to try and help find April but also so they can be sure they charge him for the full offences they think he has committed.

Think of it like this. If you arrested someone because you had strong evidence they stole an apple. Then evidence came to light that they also ATE the apple... And then evidence came to light that indicating that they might have stolen bananas and pears too. The whole nation is following your work in investigating this... You'd likely wait as long as you can to get evidence to prove the person did all the crimes you suspected them of, so you can charge them for the full crimes upfront and they can all be dealt with as one big case. As opposed to saying we've charged X with stealing apples, then have to open a new case re eating the apple. Then another re stealing bananas and pears to. 3 different charges, potentially 3 different cases. Would be messy and can seem like the investigating officers don't know what they were doing. This is a com on way of doing things and is sure cleaner too

I'm no legal expert, but yes they would unless they charge him in which case *I think* they can keep him.

This is just awful. The size of him as you see him being led into the court he looks huge. How scared little April must have been:cry:

They cannot keep him if after the 24 hours they have no evidence to do so. He would be released until formally charged.
