Hi ladies,

LO's speech is really coming on and we have a set of books that she loves which are essentially a picture per page and you learn them etc. But she has nearly destroyed them so was thinking of getting some flash cards?

Can anyone recommend some decent flash cards of everyday words and pictures?

early learning centre has the best id say, i bought https://www.elc.co.uk/Giant-Alphabet-Flash-Cards/116134,default,pd.html

i used a hole puncure on the giant ones and threaded a ribbon through, put them in order, keeps them together and they can travel with them without them scattering.

agree with the pp ive just bought the babys first words ones from elc and they r great and on offer at the moment

I've just had the elc first words too

We've bought several of the DK ones from Amazon -https://www.amazon.co.uk/First-Words-Touch-Picture-First/dp/0756615186

They are really good - very sturdy as ours are still going strong. There are a few American words in there, but only one or two in a pack of loads of cards.

By the way ANY flash cards soon become little carpet surfing boards. My LO thinks it's great fun to spill them on the floor, then run at them and see how far he can go! He's had a few tumbles because of this and my niece has with hers too. You will soon hate picking them up all the time but they are great and worth it in my opinion.

I'm looking for toddler-proof flash cards too! My LO ripped most of his Asda ones apart lol. x

I'll just add them to the list of things I am constantly picking up :haha: And I guess flash card surfing is better than book surfing, which is what she currently does and rips the pages!! Hence the reason her word books are destroyed!!
