folic acid in weetabix

i never knew that do u know how much the daily amount is if you take the folic acid tablets?

on the box of the weetabix it says 36 and then a funny shape and then a g per 36g serving. i think i have a bit more than that so was wondering if i am actually getting my folic acid per day but never knew it

i THINK i have found that the daily recommended amount is 400mg of folic acid so maybe not quite enough in weetabix oh well worth knowing i am getting some at least

Nope. Defo not enough folic acid in Weetabix for a women TTC. You are right, you need to take a supplement of about 400mg daily. Also, it doesn't last in our bodies, so it's necessary to keep taking it throughout TTC. The extra we get in our diets will do us more good than harm as I don't believe you can overdose on it through 400mg tablets and whatever our food intake contains.

Hope this helps. Well spotted though, I have never noticed it was in Weetabix and I eat the stuff regularly so thanks for that. I'm even happier about my diet now.

Marmite contains folic acid. 50% of RDA for someone who isn't TTC-ing, which I think is 100mg.

I was taking this amount but our fertility clinic is now recommending 5mg or 5000ug a day based on new studies as of the end of December. A big increase. I am now taking 2.5mg in pill format and trying to get the rest from my diet. What are others taking?

Yeah I def didn't mean 100mg 0.01mg sounds more reasonable

I'm taking 400ug tablets a day, plus whatever I get from food and of course my daily marmite on toast I have for brekkie.
