Ayla is almost 7 months now and I'm wondering if I should change to follow on milk to make sure she's getting enough iron... Or are they both the same? Shes on aptamil...

There's a lot of iron in normal formula but very little of it is absorbed, so it's pretty pointless to give follow on for the extra iron. Iron is far better coming from food sources, even if your LO is only eating small amounts.

I was going to ask the same question today so i'll keep an eye on this thread. My LO is also on aptimal and is 8 1/2 months. She is now only having a bottle in the morning and at night so not sure if i should move onto follow on milk

i swapped then changed back as it gave my LO v bad wind and diarrhea, he is also on aptimil ( 7 months today) , i wasnt sure on the iron level either but the stage one milk says up to a year too, so i dont know how needed follow on is

maybe someone will have the answer

thank you :hugs:

I might just try it for a week see how she gets on.. I dont want her gettin constipated on it..

Shes on 3 meals a day and 4 6oz bottles does this sound normal at 7 months or should she be dropping a bottle??

We switched at around 8 mnths as Omar was off his formula & wasnt eating well & he liked it more. But he got much more active after switching & I think it affected his sleep, but he's also teething so I'm not really sure if it's the formula. He was on Aptamil anti reflux formula which is suitable until 12 mnths. Now we'r back on AR for bedtime for the past 2 nights & he's sleeping much better.

Sounds normal hun. She will drop when she's ready. She needs around 18-21 oz but if she's taking more it's ok.

We put Mairi on Aptamil 3 (Follow On) about a month ago and I'm thinking about changing back. There are times where she has awful wind and I think sometimes her wee tummy is sore. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too and see where it goes. :hugs: to all, think we've all needed them at separate points over the last few days x

I was inspired by ur thread u posted earlier about follow on & sleep & gave his old formula a try last night. He went for 12 hrs without feeds last night. :hugs:

the stage 1 milk is fine to stay on. My midwife told me that the only reason there is such a thing as follow on milk is because they arnt allowed to advertise stage 1, but they are allowed to advertise follow on. They dont need the extra iron in follow on, they should be getting it from food. They dont need much. Its all a marketing ploy xxx
